The showed up reasonably on time. The work was done in one day. They caulked around the edge of the floor which was cracking again within one week. The job they did on the floor edge was mediocre at best. They did not caulk the only part of the shower that needed it. When asked about the issues the owner, Jeff, made excuses and offered to charge another $195 to finish the job and never offered to fix the existing issues. Not good quality and not good customer service not very professional and WAY too expensive.

Also, it is important to know what you have paid for and caulking was not agreed to in the initial meeting. I was very insistent that you needed to have your shower recaulked and this was in my original Quote but it was removed for budgetary reasons, which I completely understand. In the future, I suggest that if you can't be home for the initial consult and assessment, that you review Estimates in writing and discuss over the phone before agreeing to the services. Again, we would have been happy to recaulk the shower, even after the service was completed and signed off, and caulking the shower was recommended in the initial meeting. It was pricey -- nearly $3,000 for all six bathrooms plus the kitchen backsplash. Two of those bathrooms are really large, however -- master bath has a lot of tile, and downstairs pool bathroom also.
The workers were very professional, and we had a good experience. Can't really comment on whether it was worth it -- we'll see how long the grout holds up. But so far, so good.

Sir Grout responded to my note on Angie's List a little later than a couple of the other companies I contacted. Actually, the slight delay was advantageous for us--since it allowed us to meet with representatives of other companies... and now that the work has been completed, we are sure we made the right decision!
Jeff Miller was the first to contact us. He was personable and professional on the phone. His partner, Joe Bodner, contacted us next--by phone--, set up an appointment for an estimate. Bodner, too, was personable and professional when we met.
These guys do their homework and they come loaded for bear! Bodner carefully looked over the work, then suggested options. He had his laptop with him, and showed me before and after pictures of work similar to ours. His suggestions made good sense, and we opted for a couple of them.
Francesco, the workman/tile-fellow arrived a few days later. This may sound monotonous, but I'm happy to report that he, too, was personable and professional. He hauled a fair bit of equipment to my 2nd floor, laid down protective coverings for my hardwoods and carpeting, explained again what the work would entail, then worked steadily for about 8 hours. When he was done, he asked me to inspect his work. My bathrooms haven't looked so good in years!
The price was right; the work exemplary.

Santos, Sir Grout's direct employee, arrived timely on the scheduled day. He again explained what he was going to do and how long each project would take. He was respectful of our home, placing drop cloths in the master bath and wearing "booties" immediately upon entering our home.
Santos was a professional--he was neat, detailed, organized, and an excellent "task master." While he was waiting for the stripper to work on the grout in the shower, he prepped the kitchen countertops. Each step, he advised us what he was doing and what we could or could not touch/do. He recommended--and received approval--on the color choice for both the caulking and the grout. He removed the old caulking, "painted" each grout line in the master shower with the restoration material, recaulked, and then completely sealed the shower. The shower looks better than when it was new 5 years ago. Jeff and Santos also provided information on how long the sealer needed to "cure" before we could use the shower and how to maintain it. (detailed cleaning instructions for future cleanings were provided). When he was complete with the bathroom, Santos cleaned up the area entirely, put on both exhaust fans and left the window open to vent the bathroom of the chemical sealing smell. He closed the door from the bathroom into the bedroom so that the cold air didn't affect the heat in the bedroom. The smell was gone within an hour.
The granite kitchen counters were stripped, resealed, and polished. Again, they look better than when they were new. They have a reflective look. Santos again advised us that we needed to leave the countertops empty for 3 hours and then could use them as normal. No debris or residue remained--very thorough process for both the sealing and the clean up.
This was a job very well done. Sir Grout-- specifically Jeff and Santos--is welcome in our home any time.
