A-1 QUALITY ALUMINUM

After numerous calls to other contractors from Angie's list, only two called back.  One called to say he didn't rescreen the enclosure roofs, but said he always returned calls.  The other was Chris with A-1 Quality Aluminum.  Chris came by as promised and gave a quote that I felt was rather high.  He gave other options reducing the amount significantly but this would eliminate any warranty for the product.  He and another contractor spent an entire day to rescreen the enclosure and replace the support lines.  After reading the only other review, I can relate to the other reviewer where Chris was quick to lower his price, but he was not rude nor aggressive.  I'm not sure that I got the best price, but happy the job went well and that Chris stayed to make sure the work was finished to my satisfaction. 

Chris was "johnny on the spot" when it came to a quote. He came out the night the damage occurred and was as nice as could be. He gave me a quote and then told me he had a "big" job he was doing and if I would commit to the business that he could take $400.00 off the price.

I was not ready to commit because I had not done any research and was not comfortable with the situation.The next day, I received a call and he asked if I was ready to go ahead with the job. I told him that insurance had to come take a look and immediately he got upset because I did not tell him I was going to claim it. I reminded him that he had not furnished an estimate via email as promised and that I was unsure of what to do. He offer to do some add on's to the quote in order to make my deductible negligible. He wanted me to sign the contract immediately and fax it back and told be that my email did not work. I told him to try it again and I got the same response. It was obvious that he did not want to give me a written quote without a commitment.

After the adjuster came out I had some time to get other quotes. His was not unreasonable but he was about $500.00 off the majority of others. I had not heard from him and decided to go another direction.

I received a call a week later and he asked when we were going to start. I let him know that I was not interested and that I was going a different direction. He immediately became hostile and accused me of using him for a quote. I could not get a word in the conversation and finally I hung up on him.

DO NOT USE THIS GUY! there are much more reputable companies that will treat you the right way. He will call you and try to quote you but it is all about getting the job quickly before you have time to research. BUYER BEWARE

They charged me over $1000 dollars for a job that, as I found out later, shouldn't have cost more that $400 at the most. Further, they didn't even put in flashing. They used long Styrofoam panels. It took 5 hours in the hot sun for somebody to redo the work correctly.
