Backyard flooded and resulted in flooding of the house during Tropical Storm Debbie (June 2012)Took mitigating action by cutting a small trench in backyard to direct water to front of house and to street. Personal 'life issues' prevented getting anyone to install a French Drain system installed quickly.Tropical Storm Isaac formed and we sought out a company to provide a service. We had a flyer from "Wholesale Nursery" that said they install yard drain systems. My fiance' contacted them and wanted to know if they could get it installed before the storm was expected to impact our area in 3 days. "Jon" told her 'No Problem, I'll have it done for you tomorrow (Thursday) or the next day (Friday) at the latest." Jon's assistant Cathleen came out and estimated the job of two 100-foot French Drains, 4 grates installed for $1600. Price negotiated to $1400.They showed up late the first day (Friday) and left early. They dug the trench by hand instead of using a trencher. Trench construction was very poor (lots of bends and the bottom was not even). I could not see any 'drop' for gravity to cause flow. I measured the trench drop at 1 - 1.5 inches for a 65 foot run. (I work in the utility industry and understand trenching and gravity flow systems very well).They returned at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and I asked them about the amount of drop and Jon got very upset about challenging his "quality work and experience of 4000 jobs just like this." You simply cannot talk to Jon. He's extremely defensive and gets 'in your face' when you try to speak with him about his work. I simply asked if he was insured because I want his work product insured in the event the yard / house floods again. He said he was and got irritated with me and went to his truck to get insurance papers that were never found. I simply left him to finish.They left at 1:00 p.m. stating they had a Dr. appointment. We will have to wait for a heavy rain to see if the drain has enough down angle to work. They proposed a different method for the other drain line and they assured us it would have gravel in the bottom of this trench. The first trench had no gravel because they convinced my fiance it wasn't necessary and that they were going to add an additional drain grate to the line. They promised to show up on Sunday (One day before expected storm impact). We called them Sunday around 10:00 to see when they were coming. Was told they needed to buy materials and no one was open on Sunday. I wondered how he could promise to come Sunday if he didn't have materials to do the job. He provided more talk about his quality of work and said 'trust me'. I checked with Home Depot, all materials were readily available there. We dug our own trench to stave off the rain water Sunday evening from the storm. They show up Monday (we're at work) and finish the job. He calls my fiance at work and wants immediate payment. She explains to him that she will need to inspect the work before paying him. I'm wondering why he doesn't just send an invoice for work completed. He begins yelling at her over the phone demanding immediate payment. She finally told him she'd inspect the work and get back with him. She is afraid of the man! "Wholesale Nursery" customer service consists of intimidation and not letting you speak. They are rude people and simply do not tell the truth. They show up when they feel like showing up with no calls to you. They will not tell you when they will show up but state clearly "You don't know all the things I have to do before I get to you". They will leave early and lie about coming back. Avoid this company like the plague. My fiance is afraid of this man and I've already contacted the police about his actions and methods of obtaining payment. The inspection of the second system has been completed but it's a moot point at this juncture with regard to ever having this company do work for us again. I wouldn't wish this company on anyone. I am going to pursue this with the Duval County Business Licensing Division, the Better Business Bureau, and the IRS to insure everyone knows about this company and their non-existent business ethics.

They did not finish the job, and what they did was of poor quality. The grass is dying, they just dumped rocks on the flowerbed, always came late, and never stayed very long to work.
