I called three Electricians from Angie's List (Top 3 rated from local area). I chose Roland's Electric since the pricing all was about the same, but he said he could come out this past Friday (2/5/16). I wanted to have the work complete before the super bowl. Well when Friday came, I texted him at 8:42am to see what time he was coming. I got a call back at 9:11am and he told me that he got confused because he had another job with 8 can lights and his worker went to that job already? He said he would see what he could do to get someone out there. He ended up having one of his workers come out later Friday and spent a couple of hours and pre-measured where the can lights would go in the pool room and then had to leave and said he would come back Saturday to finish. He showed back up Saturday from 8:30a-12:30p and completed the dedicated outlet in the garage and added the 4 can lights in the pool room. He said he would have to come back Monday to finish the 4 can lights in the master bedroom. On Monday, Roland and his helper Andrew arrived at about 10:30a and worked until about 1p to complete the can lights in the master bedroom. The end result of the can lights and dedicated outlet was good. My problem is more on the professionalism with Roland:
1) He wasn't organized enough to know which job was which causing my Friday job to turn into a Friday, Saturday and Monday job??
2) When Roland showed up with his partner he immediately placed his box of can lights on my Brand New Pool Table Felt! I moved it off.
3) Then he goes into the master bedroom and places his tool belt with metal buckles and tools on my dresser without anything below it?? Who does that?
4) Then he places the box of can lights on my bed! Again, this is my bedroom and bedding! Why are you putting these things on people's bedding. Where is your mat that you can place on the floor to protect the floor and fixtures??
5) While his partner was going into the attic he steps into my master bathroom and starts to use my toilet?????? He didn't even ask, or ask if there was a guest bathroom??? Do you think he even washed his hands...NO
6) Again, without asking he takes my cell phone charger from my master bedroom and plugs in his phone in the pool room???
7) I wanted to see if he could add a fan above the pool table. He asked if the table could be moved...No. He said then how would he be able to add the fan? He's the electrician, doesn't he have a scaffolding for these types of jobs?
I just moved to the area, definitely not the Electrician I was looking for or would use as a permanent Electrician of choice. I would never recommend him. I literally stayed in the room and watched them the whole time due to the fact I didn't trust how they treated the house as a professional and why wouldn't that type of behavior find it's way into their work.

This electrician really helped us out by coming promptly as we had requested and fixed our 3 electrical problems.  He arrived on time and began working immediately.  He was courteous, professional, friendly and answered any questions we had and explained everything he was doing before he did it.  He did not try to over sell anything that was not needed.  I was very pleased with his work and the speed in which he completed it.  I would definitely rehire him without hesitation.  I would also recommend him to anyone without any reservations.

We live in a slightly older house with lots of electrical and plumbing surprises. The one Roland and his assistant Andrew helped us with recently was a problem with our dishwasher losing power. Roland was able to fit us in, came and assessed the problem and replaced a wire. When the dishwasher lost power the next day, they came back promptly to change out another wire and didn't charge us for the second visit. Very reasonable price, good personalities, and not afraid to work in a house that has baffling wiring.

Roland is an electrician that I would recommend to anyone. He arrived on time and installed a new electrical box in the ceiling for us and then installed the light fixture. He performed the work in a quality fashion and cleaned the work area when he was done.
We are very pleased with his services. I would recommend him to anyone for electrical work.

I had called Roland once before to ask about some particulars of the electrical system of a house I was looking to buy. He was generous with his time, explaining to me what to look for, what certain issues might mean, what he would do to ascertain the situation, and rough estimates for all possible scenarios. I was so impressed with his generosity of time and clear explanation of things that I decided I would use him in the future if needed. So when I did eventually buy a house, I called him in to look at a variety of things: shoddy workmanship on the remodeling job, inspection of both panel boxes and exterior electrical tie-in, issues with dimmer switches, flood lights not functioning, and quot;vintageand quot; dryer outlet, etc, etc. Pretty much he went through the entire house with me and explained the whole system, sniffing out potential problems and carefully listening to my concerns. After we prioritized the work, he gave me an estimate that was within the price I expected. So he came back the next day and started the work. He was incredibly thorough, taking the time to check into a few strange things (my house is a 1960 vintage), and made sure they were either fixed correctly, or if they didn't need fixed that we uunderstood the reason for their existence. It ended up taking him about a day and a half to complete the work but I feel very content knowing my electrical system is now in improved condition. And I really appreciate all the knowledge he gave me about my house. And he does not use cheap stuff, he uses good quality parts, which I also appreciate. And he relabeled the interior breaker panel to correctly identify what was what, it was a mess before he did that. My only complaint was that in trying to replace the receptacles, the crumbly wall plaster would fall apart and he didn't clean that up in a lot of areas. But all the outlets and switches look beautiful and all I had to do was run the vacuum around quickly. No biggie!

I called Roland for the installation of two fans shortly before the Big Deal I had bought was to expire. He assured me that even if it had expired, he would install both fans, which I found very honorable. Roland arrived on time and set about work. He checked various details and carefully explained how to use the remote controls. The install took about 2 hours, which was a bit longer than I expected, but Roland explained that some screws were missing from the boxed fan and he had to check his stock.
I would be happy to call Roland the next time I have electrical work to be done.

- firndly and courteous
- provided good value
- is efficient
- quality of work was not great. Had to invite him back twice to fix loose conenctions that were detected by others when working on other electrical issues. - however, the return visits were prompt and Roland quickly fixed whatever the issues were.
we would likely not use him but depends.

The overall work took a little longer to complete than originally estimated. However, the issue was resolved and the work completed satisfactorily. Roland was very thorough in investigating the issue and sorting out the root cause.

Roland did everything we asked. He was personable. He showed us other things he noticed and made future recommendations. Not pushy or anything. Just observations in how things were (ie with our electric panel, an extra plug for the outside fridge that wasn't necessary, etc). He finished the needed work in the time allotted.

I purchased a Big Deal to have 2 ceiling fans installed. I called Roland on October 1 and made an appointment for October 4. Roland was at my door at 8am, exactly on time. He was friendly, courteous and neat. He installed both fans, explained what he was doing at each step, and cleaned up everything in a timely manner. I will continue to use Roland for all of my electrical needs. He is truly an "A" plus!

Roland is very prompt and professional and also very personable. It's obvious from talking to him that he knows what he is doing. He is willing to put the effort and work into the job to make sure it is done correctly, safely and to the customer's satisfaction. He also makes sure the customer understands the process. I've already scheduled him to install under cabinet lights in my kitchen.

I emailed him the details of what I needed done letting him know that I needed switches replaced with 3way and 4way switches so he could bring the parts with him. I went over this again with him over the phone before he came out. He comes out and only has two switches with him. So he goes to the store to buy more switches. It took him 3 hours to install 6-7 switches. That includes the time to go to the hardware store, which is 10 minutes away, to get more switches. And he charged me for all three hours. He only got half the work done and said he had to go. He left a mess on the floor underneath each switch. He convinced me that it would be good to put in a dimmer switch in the kitchen. He charged me $15 for this dimmer switch that he got from the hardware store. But after he left, I went to go check it out and it wasn't installed. He had just put in a regular switch and left the dimmer switch in the bag with all the other switches he picked up at the store, charged me for, and didn't have time to install. I hired a different electrician and he did the same amount of work in about 15 minutes.

I first used Roland's Electric in 2006 to install the electrical outlets for a hot tub and additional outlets on the lanai. When I described my plans for the additional outlets, Roland gave me an alternate plan which eliminated unnecessary outlets and lowered the cost.

I again used Roland's Electric in ;the summer of 2011 to install can lights over the computer desks in the office and outdoor lights on the front of our garage. While discussing what needed to be done, I mentioned that the laundry room fluorescent light was not working well as well as the light in the kitchen. He then repaired the laundry room light charging me only for the parts.

Roland explained why the lights were not working, what I was doing to damage the ballast in each light and that it would not be cost effective to repair the kitchen light yet, since I planned to install can lights in the kitchen in the future. Well, that future is now here. When I complete this report, I will be calling Roland's Electric to install those lights and to install exhaust fans in two bathrooms.

Roland does not always do the work himself, however the young man who did the work was extremely polite and left the rooms he worked in as clean as he found them.

After the garage lights were installed, I noticed that one of them was a bit loose. I called Roland and with the hour he was here and fixed the problem.
Response from Roland's Electric
