He lets you know what will and won't work, explains the reasons why and will work to get your job done the way you want it, not the way he thinks it should be. Not well at all! David's response to my very honest review is not accurate. The picture is AFTER grout; it's dated on my phone. Besides I have learned (thanks to this experience) that if tile looks bad BEFORE grout, grouting absolutely won't improve it. I'm also posting what he left me with (and he didn't know I wasn't happy? Come ON! ) A hall bath was supposed to be redone later, but we were wise enough to stop where we did because we were VERY unhappy. Oh, and the materials left on my porch were not to be left there indefinitely, not going into a long weekend (and possible hurricane). When I said 'ok' it's before I knew he wasn't coming back for a week. Really a difficult and upsetting experience with David - just very glad it's over!

"I'm not sure why your first review and my response to it are now gone, and my response was very accurate. The picture that you had previously posted was BEFORE it was grouted not after. I should know as I did the job and I've been doing this for over 35 years. Customers are amazed at how their jobs look after it's grouted verses before. Grout does make a difference. As I stated in my first response, I have a picture of the finished floor I did, but Angie's List website isn't capable of letting me post a picture so I can prove myself. As I stated in my first response as well too, I didn't know that anything was wrong because you kept telling me that everything looked great. Again, as I stated in my first response, I had to move other customers around to accommodate your schedule regarding the inspection of the shower pan that the plumber installed, which was not a factor when I scheduled your job and started it. It came in the picture later and I had to fill my schedule while waiting for the inspection. I can't just take days off and wait for an inspection, I have an employee and other customers to keep on schedule. We kept in touch via phone and email and all seemed good regrading the time frame. As for the materials on your porch, all you had to do is say please remove it and I would of but you said it was okay to leave. I don't remember any hurricane possibilities either and if there were, I wouldn't of left the materials. I'm a homeowner too, so I know what it takes to prep a house to go through a hurricane. I sincerely didn't mean to upset you over any of this either. The last thing I want is a dissatisfied customer."

Fantastic. David and Tony removed the old, dated tile floor in the bathroom and installed a wonderful new tile floor for our guests. We couldn't be happier with the work that was completed, it was done above and beyond my expectations. They even set a new toilet for me after completing the installation! Their attention to detail is what makes the difference, having been an owner/operator in business for so long is a testament to their skill. Great work.

David was on time and installed the backsplash over two days. In the end, we were not entirely happy with the results, but this is not entirely David's fault. My review will consist of things we learned and that would have made this a better experience for both us and David. 1. Ensure design and materials are selected in advance. We changed our minds right up until last minute potentially causing issues with the install. 2. Ensure appliances and decorations are removed if necessary. Here focus on vent/fume hoods, molding, and the like. This would have saved a lot of stress and cleanup efforts later. 3. Ensure where you want tiling to start (left, center on focal point like stove, etc.). 4. Ensure everyone understands the pros and cons of grout size and type. Why is 1/16" too small for glass tile? Should grout be sanded or un-sanded? How is the grout applied and cleaned up? As a customer we hire professionals because we don't have that knowledge and are not sure what questions to ask. 5. Verify process for prep and cleanup. Who does what? When? How? Ensure proper protection of cabinets and counter tops. 6. COMMUNICATION. This is really the heart of all of the others. Part of the issue with this job was poor communication in both directions that caused some issues with the end result. In the end we worked with David and found a solution we were satisfied with. David and Tony were very personable and did make every effort to complete the job to our satisfaction, including attempting some rework. If we, as the customer, had understood some of the points above better, I believe this job would have been higher rated and all of us would have been more satisfied.

I cant begin to tell you how great of a job David did with the tile floor in our bathroom. I had been putting off replacing the floor, but I wish I had done it sooner! I read the reviews on Angie's List and David was highly recommended, so I went with his company. I really like working with owner/operators, because the level of service they are able to provide is top notch. David and his team removed two layers of old tile one day, hauled away the debris, and returned the next day and put the grout in. The floor looks fantastic and our bathroom remodel really looks sharp. Fantastic work and attention to detail.

We were very excited to meet and hire David to install our kitchen backsplash. He was prompt and professional when he came to do the estimate and provided a very fair price. However, the day of our scheduled installation we called to find out where he was and he claimed that he had called and talked to somebody to reschedule for the next day. We never received such a call or even a follow up email and took time off of work for nothing. We now have to find somebody else. Very disappointed!

Pretty well. David is nice and offers a very fair price. We discovered some old wood that needed to be replaced, and he took care of it for me at a reasonable price. Communication could be an issue, but overall I thought he did a great job for a very fair price, and I will use him again.

What a beautiful job!!! He and his helper were meticulous in the sawcuts and the 'riverbed' tile fill. What could have looked like a patch job now looks like a design element in floor. I would recommend Dave highly.

The tile work itself is very good and David did the job in less than 3 days. However, I specifically asked him if he had the supplies to protect the tub finish because we did NOT want to refinish it. He assured me he would protect the tub so I wasn't concerned when he off-handedly said "the finish was soft" or when I heard tiles being dropped in the tub. When he was done with the tiling it looked like the tub was splashed with demolition dirt, which I assumed would wash off when I cleaned up. I was horrified when I went to clean the tub and saw that the dirt was actually the original olive tub finish showing through the GOUGES in the white refinished surface. Every surface of the tub had gouges. I immediately called David. Not only did he blame the refinished tub for being "soft" and "a bad job" but he blamed ME and said he thought I was fine with it since I didn't say anything before he left. 1.) As a professional, he should have told me the finish was being damaged by his negligence and not leave me believing it was merely construction dirt. Three people have used that tub for 1.5 years without gouging or chipping it. The company I had to call in to strip it, repair the gouges, and refinish it didn't say it was soft or a bad job. 2.) We were expecting overnight guests 3-4 weeks after this fiasco happened and I could not have them use the tub in it's current state. It was very stressful locating a reputable company that could not only do the job within 3 weeks but could assure me the chemicals they use would not harm our septic system. 3.) David was very rude when I called him about the damage, did not offer to pay for the repairs, but did offer to have a guy he uses to refinish tubs come out the following week to take a look. I refused the offer and said we would figure something out. Not long after that his wife called and told me to send them estimates for the repair. In the end, David reimbursed us $200 for the damage/repairs. Although the tile work was very good, I wouldn't recommend David to anyone I personally know for fear he would damage their tub too.

Before we started I asked you if some of the chips were already there and you said yes. I did ask you to look at the job before I left and you did say everything was fine. I did another bathroom like yours with a tub in it the following week and there wasn't a single chip or gouge anywhere when we were done. Regarding you not getting the tub redone on time was not my fault. I gave you 2 companies that would of come right out and done your tub in the time frame that you needed. One was a company that did my tub 20 years ago and still looks new and the second company I haven't work with them before, but I have run into them on other jobs that I was on. But you decided not to use them only because I referred them to you. I don't recall being rude to you on the phone either and I'm truly sorry if you felt that was true. Sincerely, David Boatwright"

There were two people and it took roughly three or four hours. I felt like they didn't smooth it at the very end. I feel like I need to clean it. I wish they would have cleaned the grout off a little bit better. It's not that big of a deal and I would use them again.
