ARTISAN'S FURNITURE INC

In October of 2006, my husband and I entered into an agreement with Artisan's Furniture to have our kitchen renovated. Unfortunately, we were forced to cancel our agreement, just 2 weeks later, due to a possible job transfer. We immediately informed Mr. Smith of our situation and the need to cancel our order. He agreed to return only 50% of our ($8000) deposit, claiming he had incurred expenses in time and materials up to that point. However, nowhere in Mr. Smith s contract does it state a cancellation penalty nor an hourly rate for consultation or drawings etc. To date, we have received one payment of $2200.00 and have had no further contact with Mr. Smith after repeated requests for the return of our full deposit. Since this time, we have filed a complaint with the BBB, which they have now closed due to the company s failure to provide the Bureau with a response. Unfortunately, we have now turned to the legal system for justice in resolving this matter.
