I started looking for someone to install a new driveway gate to replace the old, heavy and rotting swinging double gates on my home driveway. I was not an Angie's List member at the time, so I started on Craig's List where I saw a fair number of advertisers for fences. I checked out a number of websites and even went to Sunbiz.org to check state business registrations. After checking Sunbiz I went to the websites for a handful that checked out. When I saw the pictures on the website for A Friend in Fence LLC, I saw really nice work put up in the pictures, but that isn't what really "sold" me. I crawled all over the website and read everything. What really did it was how the website was written. It sounded down-to-earth and "real." It didn't sound all trumped up and fake. I found out later that Dave Mattice did it himself. Dave is a one-stop shop for fencing and gates. For our first appointment, he was a bit early (before I made it home from work) and he actually waited for me! Dave took measurements and determined the scope of work to my specifications. A few days later he sent the quote via email. The price for the gate and opener was more than I could do all at once, so Dave went ahead (on my instruction) with the rolling gate. It is really a work of art and will withstand the bears climbing (!) over it without breaking apart. The welds on the frame are tight and the entire iron structure is micely painted. Dave covered the frame with sturdy 1-by boards to go with my existing stockade fence. I was thrilled with the gate and how easily it rolled on the track Dave installed. After fighting with the old wooden gates, this was great. It was a pleasure to come home into the driveway again. That was on June 5th.Then at the end of August I was ready for the opener. Dave came and installed the electric opener we had agreed upon. This is really where I feel like royalty when I come home! The operator is small and Dave installed it to be as unobtrusive as it possibly could be. The outdoor electrical wire is all run through nicely finished conduit that is all mounted securely on it's run to the power source.Dave did a great job and even had extra remotes available with him AND a compatible keypad which I hadn't even thought of, but he had them all on his truck - no extra trip or delay waiting for another order.Dave is a professional and a hard-working and honest businessman. I would recommend him to anyone for fences, gates, whatever.
