"I am so sorry that (member name removed) experiences at out office were not as she had hoped. I would like to comment on some of her concerns, starting with the office decor. In reviewing (member name removed)'s records I see she has not been in since 2009, and I think if she came in today she would not recognize the office. We have recently done major renovations, and she would now find ours to be one of the most modern facilities in Central Florida. If you are ever in the neighborhood we would love to show you around! The most important aspect of the review was placement, or lack of placement, of the upper implants. Several other implants were done here, and they went well. However, in 2007, when implants for the upper front area were discussed, I was greatly concerned that the volume of bone in the upper front was too thin to assure that once implants were placed, there would not be gum recession over the following years. We have been doing implants for 25+ years, and find that in questionable situations, it is better to be conservative. When implants do fail in the front of the mouth the results can be disastrous, creating a major cosmetic issue. Thus sometimes the placement of a permanent bridge can be the safest option. That being said, in the last 4 years there have been huge changes in our ability to create bone, and place implants where previously they were not advised. Four years ago CT scan technology was not the norm for difficult cases, as it is today. Using human growth factors we are now able to grow bone where before that process was very unpredictable. Implant technology itself has also advanced. Thus if you had come in for a consultation recently the recommendation to proceed with a bridge may not have been made, and implants would have been planned. It is not an issue of old school vs. new school: we pride ourselves in staying abreast of all current technology while also using our considerable experience to know when we must be cautious. I know that you will receive excellent care with your new periodontist, and wish you well with your oral health."
The procedure I need is very costly , I am not sure when and if I can have the procedure done. If I do I will definately go back to his office.
