iI have used Dales Gas for years for our pool/spa heater. As they are one of the few companies in the Orlando who work on this

type of equipment I continued to use them even though their attitude was less than customer service oriented.

Happily todays experience was exceptional. The technician arrived in a timely manner,  he was very knowledgeable, helpful, identified the issue immediately repaired it and had the unit functioning properly in minutes. Great Job!!

As others have said, they are a busy company and you need to be available for when they can come out. I think this may be an area they are working on. At no charge, they sent someone out to look at our old unit and determined we would need a new pool heater. We then worked with someone else on the cost and type of unit we would need and if they could install a by-pass valve. We were told they couldn't.

The installation did not go as well as planned and after looking at the direction manual, we determined a by-pass could have been installed. After the installation, Dales Gas followed up with a phone call to check on how the installation went. When the owner, Clint, heard of some of the problems we had, he went out of his way to assist us. He came out, met with us and followed up with a phone call on what would be done and they arranged for someone else to come out and at a time that would be convenient for us. These were not major issues but we got the impression the installation was not done to their high standards.

One recommendation I would make to anyone who may have turned off the gas to their tank and unit is to be sure to have the gas reconnected before having the heater installed. There was a delay in using our heater because while we were told everything looked ok for the installation of the new heater, it really wasn't.

We really feel that Clint and Dales Gas went out of there way to ensure we were happy customers and did not charge us any additional for the extra service he provided. We will definitely use Dales Gas in the future and feel comfortable in recommending them to others.

The technician arrive and was very polite, he was taken around to the pool heater and explained what AmeriGas had found when they'd done their system check prior to filling the tank. He was given the information that the AmeriGas technician had found and ask to ensure that the system was ready to go when the gas tank was filled. The technician got right to work, was done in no time flat and came back to the door to infom us of what had been done. The one hang up that he found was that AmeriGas had disconnected and locked out the gas feed, so he could not test the flame, but he assured me that it was ready to go otherwise. I ask if there was anything else that needed to be done prior to the tank being filled and he said no. But if there were any issues after filling to just call up and they'd come back out to fix it, no additional service charge. I was left with the inpression that the system was prep'ed and ready to go once the tank was filled. When AmeriGas arrived they reattached the gas line and began filling the tank, after the system was presurized the tech attempted to light the pilot at which time he found that most of the safety circuit was inop, disconnected by corrosion, or parts failed due to age/misuse. 10 min of troubleshooting and the tech was able to locate each of the problems and explain what the situation was. Dales failed to troubleshot the complete system even though gas nor electrical connection was required to ohm out the safety circuit, it was simply not done. When this was brought to the attention of the Office Manager (via email) the response was that I could use them or not it did not bother her. It was my fault that they had not completed the job as I had been unable to give them all of the information that she felt I should have had, course that is why I attempted to get an expert. I will not use them again.

"In response to the Member review, I will only copy and paste the response that was sent to him in regards to his email. I am sure that this will speak for itself: From: Lacey Sharp [mailto:lacey*****.com] Sent: Monday, August 20, 2012 2:40 PM To: 'Member' Subject: RE: Service Invoice from Dale's Gas Appliance Repair, Inc. Member, In reference to the email that was sent below, our technician found that the gas tank was locked off by by Amerigas until the pilot was replaced. I am assuming that they somehow relayed this information to you ahead of time. If this information had been passed on to us we would have brought a portable tank so that we would be able to more thoroughly check through the heater. As it stands, we were not made aware ahead of time that there was no gas going to the unit. To verify this, I listened to our phone conversation from when the service call was originally made. The reason that the technician did not check through the rest of the heater is that although these simple checks are possible without gas going to the unit, it is not possible to test these parts to be sure that this is all that was needed until the gas was turned back on. We are not in the business of being “parts replacers”. In our business unfortunately, this is a double edge sword of sorts. We have customers that get upset when we replace parts in a heater and wonder how we know that they are bad when we are unable to fire the heater up, we also have customers that get upset when we are doing our best not to do “guess work” and wait until the heater is fully functional in order to test the unit thoroughly. When we repair a heater we want to make sure that the unit is fixed for more than a few days and although able to check through the heaters safety circuit without the gas, there are numerous components in the heater that are unable to be checked through without the gas being on. I’m sure the technician told you before he left that once the tank was turned back on, if you had any further issues we would be happy to come out and take care of them. We would not have charged another service call, you would have just been charged for the parts. This is the reason that we do this. If you would like for Amerigas to take care of the heater further, I have no problem with that. They are a great company and I have no issue with them. Our technician came out to your home and performed the service that was requested in the manner that we usually handle this particular situation and I have no problem with that either. Please let me know if there is any further assistance that I can give you. Thank You for your time. Lacey Sharp Office Manager Dale's Gas Appliance Repair, Inc. [email protected] To add to this, our company did not tell the Member that he could either use us or not. In his original email he stated that he was going to have Amerigas complete the repairs and I believe our response was that " If you would like for Amerigas to take care of the heater further, I have no problem with that. They are a great company and I have no issue with them. " We truly appreciate each and every one of our customers and are disappointed when there are some that are not satisfied with our service. We truly hope that customers using Angie's list will also look at the reviews of the customers that were pleased with our work and give us a chance."

Worker called to determine if time was OK to come out. He arrived promptly, went right to work (despite a light rain) removing the pool light fixture, unsealing it, replacing a defective bulb, re-sealing and reinstalling the fixture.
