BRETT'S PAINTING & DRYWALL REPAIR

He did a good job on the work but was lousy on the paper work. He was supposed to send me a receipt and he never did do that. The reason was because the day he did the job, couple of things happened beyond his control, his truck was stolen and so he didn't have any paint. But he knocks someone at his place because he couldn't do that. As far as the actual work and price goes, I think he did a good job. He still came and did the job within a few days.

Called before they came, arrived on time. The work is completely professional. Didn't make much of a mess and cleaned up afterward.

UPDATE: I wrote a review on this company earlier, but I need to amend it. When they replaced the drywall in the bathroom, we asked if they could prepare the walls for paper, and they assured us they did. However, when the (very expensive) wallpaper was installed, it wouldn't adhere to the walls. The installer had to come back twice, the second time to size the walls. If you tell me you're doing something, then do it, or say you didn't do it! The same thing happened with painting the doorframe: I asked if they could do it, they said yes. I asked if they needed to charge more, they said no. Then when they left, I discovered it hadn't been done and we had to paint it quickly before the papering was done. My fault--I should have checked, but it was crowded and I was trying to stay out of their way. I won't call them again.

I asked Brett to replace some drywall and build a larger cabinet access
door and frame that had been removed for a maniblock plumbing replacement job. He did a
good job on that work, but he was not that prompt at returning phone
calls and there were some scheduling miss-communications. In addition,
the day he did the work his regular truck had a dead battery, so he did
not have his receipt book with him. He said he would mail me a receipt,
but in spite of two follow-up calls requesting the receipt, it has not
arrived as of this date.
I would probably use him again for drywall work - he said he is mainly a painter, but I did not have any painting for him to do - but I might also look at some other providers before making a final decision.

Overall it went well. See my remarks above.

Used plastic to cover cabinets and nearby rooms. Took part of two days.

They always showed up when they said they would (#1 priority for us). Cleaned up after themselves. We bought one door and the dark blue paint; they provided the white enamel for the trim. They did beautiful, professional work. We hadn't planned on them doing all the painting, but Brett convinced us to have a professional job done, and he was right. It's gorgeous. Nice detail work, too, around the doors, etc. When he said he'd come to measure and estimate, he had a family emergency and had to go to Birmingham but called and actually came to our house the moment he got back into town.

I had a great experience working with Brett's Painting and Drywall Repair. He made a good impression from the start by showing up on time for the estimate and showing his concerns for quality. He was also able to accommodate my need to have the work done on short notice and on a Saturday. Brett's Painting was the first contractor I have used from Angie's List and I was very pleased with the way everything turned out.

Had a roof leak. After I had the roof fixed, I called Brett to repair the popcorn ceiling on the inside. Brett did such a good job, I could not tell where the water damage I had was. He is very good at repairing drywall and popcorn ceiling.
