"This is why you don't buy a condo in some parts of Florida. If you don't own the walls you live within, you are subject to very strict rules that nobody should have to live by. We were given permission to install a system by the HOA for whole home treatment, but the only way to get soft water is to have a system that uses salt or potassium to regenerate, and they need to discharge this regenerate fluid after the cycle. The HOA in this case was adamant we couldn't have a single pipe exit the garage. So a simple IN/OUT control valve on a ICF or Inline Carbon Filter was the only whole home solution that the HOA would approve. We haven't run across a HOA that controlled the exterior in such a hawkish manner. We even painted the area when we were finished to match the wall, and repaired the exterior with stucco repair. It was a beautiful installation. This client wanted Soft Water or bust, and though we did explain everything to them, and we did a very professional job, in the end, you just can't control the rules set by HOA's. I would move if I were them. This client did sign a contract with a 3 day right of recession clause, but we let them out of that, and refunded a large percentage of the original contract. After this entire hassle, we definitely lost money on this deal. This client also doesn't know the cost of what we sell, and the prices she lists are inaccurate. However, on top of our equipment costs, we have the cost of the service technician, the truck, the fuel, the maintenance on the truck, the licensing of the business, advertisement, warranty expenses (this was huge with all the lost time), consultant to test the water initially, etc. etc. If you have not been a water treatment business owner, you will never understand the overhead associated with running a company. We wish her the best, but from the time we got there, she was mad at the HOA. Seems her anger has shifted to us... I hope 2025 is better for you [Member Name Removed]!"
