2 Days later, the Dunham Well techs returned and fixed our well. The cost on that was $1330 for parts and labor. ($995 for parts and the remainder in labor costs) When I was called by the company to settle the balance, I told them of the damage done and asked for a discount on the service to offset the cost of the damage done by the technicians. I was connected to Mr. Dunham (the owner), who refused to even listen to the complaints of my situation. He kept saying that he didn’t think it was “fair” that he had to pay for the damage that was done by his techs because we had the wire buried in the driveway. He felt that we shouldn’t have put a wire in our drive so it wasn’t his fault for the accident. He said that the truck was “heavy equipment” and we have to expect that if we wanted them to be on property that our driveway should be expected to hold up to their vehicle. When I tried to tell him we had a truck double their size on my driveway in the same spot a month before with no damage, he wouldn’t even listen to me. As he whined again about how he didn’t think it was “fair” to be asked to pay for the damages, I suggested that we split the cost of the repair that had to be done and again he would hear nothing of it. So instead of a further futile argument, I asked him to return me to his finance department to settle the bill. So, to answer his question of “is it fair”… I believe that it is fair to expect a company who visits your home to take care to not damage the property that they are on. As a small business owner myself, I believe that the fair thing would be to take responsibility for the actions of my employees even if it was accidental. So I believe it would have been fair to give me a discount on the service labor to offset my further expenses caused by his employees. I believe that I am being fair in giving them a rating of 2. I’d be happy to give them the lowest rating possible for the whiny belligerence of the boss/owner and lack of customer concern, but the employees completed the job timely and my well is working again. So, I believe it to be fair to at least remember that, despite feeling that they are working for a man who runs a company as poorly as he does. Hire Dunham Well Drilling if you want a well company who seems to be knowledgeable in their industry, but say a small prayer that all goes according to plan or else you will end up paying for more than you bargained for. I, for one, won’t take the chance again.

On a Tuesday evening our 20yr old well pump burned out. After some searching around on Wednesday morning, I found Dunham Well and Drilling in Polk County, but no Angie's listing. To a leap of faith and went with Dunham. Found out later that they are well recommended by area plumbers.
They came out and inspected and tested the pump. Determined I needed repair or replacement. Considering the age of the unit, I went with replacing so that all parts were of similar age and would not have problems later on. We were back up and running by 4pm.
