WARNING: Avoid Shutters Depot (Christy Abay) and Blueprint Windows LLC (Michael Rene Gomez). These two work together to take deposits with no intent to do any work. The Florida DBPR fined Gomez $2,500 on Aug 1, 2025, for acting as an unlicensed contractor, taking payments for hurricane windows and doors without a valid license. Investigators found Abay allowed Gomez to use her license, letting him falsely advertise Blueprint Windows as a licensed company handling permits, supplies, and installations. The DBPR has sent Abay?s case to the Office of General Counsel for legal review. I lost $9,000 in deposits, never received materials or saw any work. Please verify contractor licenses at DBPR website before hiring from these fraudsters.

According to official records from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Mr. Gomez was found guilty of engaging in contracting without a license and fined $2,500 on August 1, 2025 (Citation No. G520556860980). He was cited for receiving payment for custom hurricane windows and doors while unlicensed. They did a great job. These guys are very professional. I gave up on this project after receiving 3 quotes that were ridiculously overpriced. But then a cop friend of mine said to call Mike, told me he was able to make things happen that no other company was able to do. So I called him, and sure enough he came out and gave me an estimate that was 3 times lower than the lowest competitor. Thanks to him I was able to get this project done. I couldn’t be more appreciative for his honesty and genuine interest to want to help me.

My experience with Michael was great, he was professional and always available when I needed to speak with him. His installers at first we’re not very professional and that was definitely more to do with the project manager he had at the time which wasn’t very productive. However, once I addressed my concerns to Michael he immediately took over and made sure the installers were performing their work correctly. He also brought in much better installers half way through which did a much better job. Overall the windows look great and working with Michael directly is the only reason I am giving an overall 4 star review.

The work and the experience was great then, and it was a great experience again this time around.
