Cherry Roofing

You could not get a worse roofer if you hired a plumber to do the job. Had a new roof installed and had 7 leaks including caving in my kitchen ceiling. First day took shingles off and left roof exposed and leaked on my ceiling and walls. Inferior work on flashing left my walls and ceiling leaking to the Point of getting black mold. Costs me thousands to repair what they did wrong . Got to the point I could not stand talking to him any longer and had to Get outside help.

I hired CHERRY ROOFING (3901 SW 40th Ave Hollywood FL 33023) on July 6th 2017 to replace my roof. I made it clear to them that I was hiring them to permanently resolve leaks in my roof and that time was of essence. After paying them 85% of the total amount they stopped working and returning my calls, texts and emails. It’s been over 5 months and they still have not completed the work for which I’VE HAD TO HIRE A LAWYER! Cherry Roofing service and quality is a disaster. It has been the worst experience I’ve had in 30 years with any building company. Unless you want months of problems DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!

Beware of doing business with Cherry Roofing and the Cherry family. In July, my wife and I looked for a contractor to repair a leak in our flat roof - it only occurs with heavy rain. We came across John Cherry of Cherry Roofing online - he and Cherry Roofing both had excellent reviews in multiple places. He was friendly, polite, and eager to help. He explained that Cherry Roofing had been in business for more than 50 years and his family goes the extra mile for their customers. He quoted $500 to fix the roof, to which we quickly agreed. That Saturday, he came over with one of the Cherry Roofing employees, climbed on the roof and came back to say the repair would be more extensive than he expected and would cost $1500, but he'd warranty the repair until the roof was replaced, which should have set off every warning bell in the firehouse. I was concerned about the leak, so I told him to go ahead. In a couple of hours, they'd completed the repair. He pointed out a couple of additional spots on the roof that he said were soft, but i didn't have the money for any additional repairs and declined. A few weeks later, he called out of the blue and said they'd just finished a job in the area, had some extra materials, and could fix the soft spots for $300. I didn't like the approach he used, but I figured that was a decent price for patching the other spots, so I agreed. He came over with his brother Jimmy and put on a patch. I thought everything was good, but we started getting heavy rains and I saw that the original leak was still present. I called him and he told me it was a new leak so he'd need to charge extra to fix it. I told him it was in exactly the same spot, so it was the same leak. He assured me that since he'd repaired the first, it couldn't be the same one. I went off on him and he conceded that he needed to fix it and would be out on Friday. That is when i discovered how the Cherry family works - they promise they'll come out to get you off the phone, then they don't show up. After a few weeks of this, they stop answering the phone when you call. Once John stopped taking calls, I called their office instead. The owner, John's uncle Bobby, said that John and Jimmy don't work for him and are ruining his good name. He told me he sympathizes with me and would "make it right." Obviously, this was a lie, since if John doesn't work for him, why would he bother? However, I stayed in touch with him for several weeks and saw the same pattern - "raining, can't do roof repairs today," and "busy, but will have someone out soon" and "got an independent contractor who is taking care of several things for me, he'll be out in a couple of days." Then Bobby stopped taking calls. I've explored small claims court, Department of Business & Professional Regulation, and the district attorney. Nothing is going to change the fact that they've got $1800 of my money and I have a roof that leaks. I'm not saying you will have the same experience - they have a number of positive reviews - but please take my experience as a caution. Cherry Roofing is very happy to have good reviews that even mention John or Jimmy by name, but they wash their hands of them if there are any complaints. If that doesn't sound honest or trustworthy to you, try a different roofing company. There are plenty of them around!

FYI put B as Quality for now. The leaks were just repaired. It has poured the past day and no sign of leaks Good start After asking over 8 Roofing companies to visit our home and provide Estimates. Only 4 showed up. Bobby the owner from Cherry roofing came to our home with in minutes of the time he said. He spent time with me, wife going over the repair and was polite. He new what he was saying, talking about and went into long details. I am a tuff cookie when it come to hiring anyone. (been burnt a few times). All we ask for Reliable good company, good people and hard workers show up and complete the job at hand. Bobby gave of a nice price, not the lowest or highest but he made us feel comfortable. His workers showed up and did the WORK... super nice to my wife ( i was not home) and she felt comfortable. GUESS what--after the job Bobby realized that they did need to use one of the products that was in the price and refunded me money..REALLY,, YES..... I have no issues nor do I know this firm or Bobby prior to this job. I would hire him again

The roofers have been unable to discover the cause of the leak. They have repeatedly stated that the leak is because someone else must've done some work on the roof (the roof is under warranty, I'm not sure why anyone would pay someone to fix it) because there are different shingles. For the time we have owned the home (and the warranty), they have been reluctant to come look at the leak, have made excuses for the leak being there, and have generally been less than responsive (or responsible) for fixing the issue. With the recent VERY HEAVY rains in S. Florida, the roof began leaking again, and the entire ceiling fell in. We are concerned about wood rot and mold, not to mention the cost of repairing the ceiling. Even when we are able to reach someone from Cherry, and are told that we will be contacted before anyone comes to the house, the roofers have come without notice. This is problematic for several reasons: there is no one at home to speak with the roofers about actually fixing the issue and/or the roofers claim the issue is fixed but actually it isn't and we have to wait until another heavy rain to discover the problem persists.

Salesman John appeared very professional and came in with lowest quote. However, once I agreed to the amount he had his "engineer" come in and the straps I requested to lower my insurance rating were an additional $7000! He said I had minutes to decide because all his men were on the roof. It was not until months later that I met another roofer who told me Cherry roofing has 6 different entities it works under because they are so shady. John did not apologize was a complete jerk after I signed the contract. The other roofer I met said he overcharged me $5000 and showed he the other licenses they operate under. I feel cheated and betrayed. The only reason I do not give an "F" is because otherwise, there are no leaks.

My husband wasn't happy with them. We did have them through our general contractor. They were not professional about it. They did the job just to get it done and actually didn't make sure they did a quality job.

Excellent work!  They did a great job and kept us well informed.  They were on time every day they said they would be there.  Roof passed the final inspection the first time.  We had them install 2" OSI (insulation) and when they pulled the old roof off the front porch was so rotted that they pretty much had to rebuild the whole thing.  They also installed a cedar tongue and groove on the porch ceiling and it looks BEAUTIFUL!! Our tile roof was over 25 years old and was leaking in several places. Our neighbors were replacing their roof and my husband went over to talk to them and the company that was doing the work. We made an appt with John Cherry and he came to give us an estimate the next week. He was on time and very professional. After looking at our roof, he gave us a price. He wrote up the contract and explained each step and payment. The cost was broken down into 6 payments and I felt very comfortable that he didn't want a large amount of money up front. John took care of the permit and once it was approved, work began a few days later. This company focuses on the job at hand until it's finished. The tear off and replacement tar paper were done in one day. Hot mop, done. We were given brochures to choose the barrel tile we wanted and boxes of full size samples were sent to our house.  The permit and tile purchase were the only times that the payment was made in advance. The materials to install the tile were covered by Cherry Roofing until work was completed. After the work was completed, the crew made sure all was cleaned up and trash removed. Our driveway was swept and the yard was checked for any overlooked debris. Tile samples were picked up by Cherry Roofing. John Cherry came back to check our roof, fix anything that needed tweaked and discovered two feet of rotten wood under the eaves that did not affect the roof work and stated he would send his guys back to fix it. He was given the final payment. They did come back and fixed the small repair several days later. 
I came home from work several days before the roofers were finished with their day and I was very impressed with their professionalism, manners, and clean up each afternoon. There was very little that these gentlemen missed cleaning up. This company went above what was expected.

They were good. It was excellent quality. They did very good work.

They were very fair in price because they charged by the foot.  They did a very good job fixing all of the damage in my roof and it will be in great shape for 50 years to come. I have a 25 year warranty and they will come by and fix whatever happens to the roof at no cost to me.  They were very tidy and professional and they gave me all of theses promises in writing.

I am pleased to report that everything went well. Two workmen came out at the agreed time and  began their work. They were also very pleasant and polite and knowlegable in their field. I was very satisfied with my experience and would strongly recommend this company to any of my family or close friends.  I waited to write this review so that I could truly say that I have seen no evidence of any leaks now that there has been multiple rainy days.  They are the roofing Pros !!

Everything went well. I had used them to replace my roof back in the 90's. We had a small problem with the installation but they came back to fix it and we're good.

Overall it was done very fast and very professionally.

They did a really good job! They did great the first time, so we called them out to put on a 2nd roof.

He was good enough. He finished the work on time. His price was better than other people. His quality of work was okay. He was very responsive.

They are phenomenal.

I had used Roofs by Cherry for repairs several times prior over the past several years and was always pleased with their honesty, quality of work, reliability, quick response, and very fair pricing. Due to Hurricane Wilma roof damage, I had my entire roof replaced. I was very pleased. Their price was very reasonable, though that was not the reason I used them (I had gotten quotes from other companies from $7,000 more to as much as more than double for similar work). Some of the other quotes didn't even give the 10 years on parts and labor that Cherry gives. Once the job was done, they were fairly prompt in coming back for minor touch-ups (i.e., touched up the paint on tiles where the paint had chipped, came back to clean off some tar spots that remained on the ground). I was also very impressed that when I signed the contract- they only required a $500 down payment. Other companies wanted as much as 50% down.

I FEEL THAT CHERRY ROOFING PROVIDED ME WITH GOOD SERVICE BUT THEY DID NOT MAKE A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL AND I WAS NOT TO PLEASED WITH THAT. I THINK THAT ANY COMPANY SHOULD MAKE A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL, IT IS ONLY RIGHT.
