Everything was up to Miami-Dade Hurricane Code, and they did a great job. They were very polite and respectful. It did take a few days because we're on the 4th floor, and some of the windows were a bit tricky to get out, but it was certainly worth it. We worked with them at every step.

Well, except for the home office support.  The lead designer failed to take seriously my concerns that the location of the screen structural support members and my hurricane panels were a problem.  This resulted in my having to go and purchase additional patio pavers and the installers having to make significant modifications during the installation and the work took a lot longer than anticipated.
I also had difficulty speaking with the lead designer.  Many times I would call and after trying to location him in the plant, the secretary would tell me he was not available.  Several times I had to talk with the secretary on some issues, only to have her get off the line several times to get a answer or confirm one of my questions.   She obviously was talking with him.  Don't know why he would not speak with me directly.
Although I said yes to would I use them again, my real answer is "it depends."

I didn't put all A's on my review because they are a little pricey in my opinion...but I really don't have anything else to compare the price to.  Also one of the work men became a little too friendly when building my Terrace 3 years ago.  All in all they are very customer friendly on the phone, they return calls right away.  The salesman is wonderful, knows their products and prices.  Is very knowledgeable about Florida and how home owners insurance works etc.  I never feel as if he is trying to talk me into anything, he just offers options and I get to choose what I want to do. 

Their work is excellent - it was a difficult job because some of the wall was damaged, but when they were finished it looked great!

I can say that their salesman that came here was very experienced. He measured it absolutely correct, there were no problems at all. The crew that came to install the wall was pleasant and didn't bother me at all, they never came through the condo they went around in the back of the building and they parked their truck back there. It was very nice and they cleaned up after themselves, they finished the work on time. They got my rebate from PG&T, so I was quite happy with their work. Everybody got prices, they tell you one thing and then they charge you another, but that's the one thing Sunshine Aluminum didn't do. He said that I wanted everything a hurricane proof, this is how much apparently the door from PG&T was $2,000 on its own. I did get a $800 off their original price. They were very professional.

the company failed to return emails, failed to give install date until day before install.  Installer carelessly discarded old material onto landscaping and valuable plants, caulking job was very sloppy and needs to be re-done.  Installer discarded trim material that now has to be made and installed.  Overall it was a very bad experience with sunshine aluminum.

. My wife and I decided to replace our conventional windows with impact windows to give us greater protection from hurricanes. Our first contact was with John Barnholdt, who showed up on time, took our measurements and showed us an example of the impact window. I had contacted two other window companies and their prices were considerably higher, basically for the same product.
Sunshine advised us how long it would take before the permitting process was finished and their estimate was very accurate. They sent us a postcard telling us when the job would start and their installers were here right on time. They took three days to finish the job, did a great job of cleaning up after themselves in the house, not so great on the outside (found a couple of machine screws in my driveway).
Their follow-up with the inspection and replacing the plates removed for the inspection were prompt and professional and there were no financial deviations from the original estimate.
I'd recommend or use them again.

The project manager came and measured and got a detailed description from me for what I wanted.  He told me they needed to apply for the permit which could take up to 4 weeks.  He was very nice and very competent.  He actually drew a beautiful picture of what I wanted with the measurements on the contract.  It only took about 2 1/2 weeks for the permit to come through.  The job was done by two techs one day and only one tech to finish the job the next.  It is absolutely beautifully done and exactly what I wanted.  The price was very good as well.  Apparently they offer a 10% discount in my area as well which was applied.  I am very happy with their work. 

I gave them a $4200 deposit. It was a misleading experience at best, they never did any work. They kept postponing the start date and eventually accused me that the delays were my fault. Stated they got the approval from the town to start the work, but the city said they never heard from this company or received any request to do the work. I told them I did not want them to come out and complete the work. I had a lawyer write a letter to them and they still refused to refund my deposit.
