SOUND ADVICE AUDIO & VIDEO INSTALLATION

We had a HORRIBLE experience with Sound Advice. They walked off the job, without notice, calling us (2 gay men) "bigots" and "racist" when they finally returned our calls, We have used Sound Advice in the past and been satisfied. We know the company has had financial troubles (closing stores, new management, etc). Nonetheless, when we bought a new place this year we went to Sound Advice and the entire process has been a nightmare. The installer came 3 times to install 2 TV's, Comcast boxes, 2 DVD's and program a Universal Remote. Not rocket science. Each day the installer said he would be here at 10 and never showed up before 2PM! Each day we made repeated contact with our salesman Richard asking, "Where is the installer?" Finally the installer stopped coming completely. He quit our job apparently making incredible false accusations about how we treated him. We have tried to work this out with the company. We paid nearly $1,000 extra to an outside firm to complete the install and fix the things that had been done wrong. Finally the Head Manager, or was it the Owner, Peter Beshori called us screaming and yelling that we are "bigots" and "racist" and that Sound Advice would never sell to us again. Now as a married gay couple we know what bigotry and bias is. We know we are neither. (We actually gave an iMac to the installer who told us he had an autistic granddaughter who was in need) The ban on our gay business ( Richard our Sales person was well aware we are gay and has been in this home and others or ours) is fine as we would never buy from such an incompetent establishment that literally repeatedly lied and essentially took money from us without providing services that we paid for in total ever again. Don't make the same mistake we did. We were too nice by allowing the installer chance after chance to arrive on time and do the job we had paid for.

The installers arrived and went right to work. They dismounted the projector and installed a new ceiling mount. They then remounted the unit and took the time to insure that the picture fit the screen and the projector was properly aligned . This is a great company.

They are very good, professional, and extremely personable people. They have worked with me a number of times and have always been great!

Wish I could put pictures on here to show the very amateurish installation. Lets see if I can explain what they did wrong. 1. Used extension cords in wall to connect TV to outlet inside the walls. 2. Used tape to connect extension cord that he cut and then installed in wall. 3. Cut off the 3rd prong on TV cord on 2 of the TV's so it could be used with the extension cord. 4. Installed a plate to plug extension cord in to run TV but it is not connected to electricity so is useless. I will say I did not find out about these issues until much later when I purchased a bigger TV and wanted to switch them out. Needless to say one TV is now sitting on a cabinet instead of wall and the other has cords running on outside of wall to fix the mess they left me with. I did contact a person at the store whom I cannot remember who he was for the fact he was so rude and obnoxious to me telling me "what do you want, something for nothing" when I told them what was done. I would never use this company again and if ANYONE asks for a company to do this kind of work I make sure I tell them NOT to use this company.

It was very smooth and very quiet.
Shawn and another gentleman came and did the work just as it was estimated on our phone call, days before.
The other gentleman was extremely knowledgeable about how the remotes worked in tandem (the Cable remote and the TV remote) and showed me some things that I had never been showed by Comcast.
They told me to allow 2 1/2 hours for the work and that is exactly what it took.
I plan on using these guys again for other installation and related projects in the near future.
They also work under Sound Advice (they also bought that company) and the phone listed here is not the one I finally reached them on.

You can get this work cheaper, but when someone is putting a $900 TV on your living room wall, I don't think it is wise to shop by price alone.
What we got was value.

I would have given Shawn a "B" instead of "A" except I think my criteria may be more restrictive than most of the other contributors to Angie's List and I wanted to be fair to both Shawn and the users of Angie's List. I had Shawn wall mount a 55 inch LCD television. I think my install was more complicated than usual due the wall being shared with my kitchen and had all the wiring for the kitchen outlets and lighting in it, some horizontal bracing, and the reinforcement used in hanging the wall cabinets in the kitchen. This made it difficult to drop the wires down in the wall and also required extra care to avoid the electrical wiring in the wall for the kitchen. Although Shawn did have a few problems such as one of holes in the wall didn't line up with the stud requiring a fifth hole in my wall. The installed height of the TV was also off by an inch and a half due to not considering the tilt, this merely required taking the TV off the wall and moving the mounting bracket on the back of the TV, about 15 minutes in total. However, Shawn got everything to work fine, it looks great, and I am satisfied with the work. Shawn is knowledgeable, competent, punctual, and personable. I would use him again and would recommend him to my friends.
