Magic Jack

The reception is not good, but that is due to the area I am in. Sometimes the calls drop. I can call anywhere in the world. If the reception is good, it saves a ton of money.

Yesterday my Magicjack was not loading so I visited their 24/7 online technical support chat. I made the bad judgment of allowing the technician to troubleshoot my computer via remote control. To make a long story short the technician made the issues worse. I wasted 4 hours trying to get the Magicjack online technician to fix my computer. If it were not for Windows 7 system restore I would have been screwed. Microsoft recommends backing up files and setting a system restore point prior to any troubleshooting. Magicjack is a perfect product to fit the old Latin slogan that warns , caveat emptor or buyer beware. In other words I very strongly warn potential customers to use Magicjack at their own risk.

I was intrigued by the price of MagicJack internet phone service-($40.00 for one year all calls in the USA). I could't find any information about how good it was, even on Angie's List. When I e-mailed Angie's they had no information but gave me the address for the Florida BBB (http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/BusinessReport.aspx?CompanyID=92003333) . That site had many many disatisfied complaints. I did not purchase the service because of the type of comments on the bbb site; ie; no phone number, no real people to talk to just e-mail chat, many unresolved problems with poor quality calls, computer interface problems, security leaks making it easy to hack your computer, never any refunds, ongoing charges to your debit card, no uninstall program for your computer.......on and on.
