Great. They were prompt, thorough, and attentive. They saved me from purchasing a real disaster. The 18 month old vehicle needed many thousands of dollars in repair work. I received a multi-paged report showing everything that was good and bad including descriptions and pictures.

Foreign Affairs Auto, Inc. 1681 N Military Trl West Palm Beach FL 33409-4734 Complaint Description: It appears that try to up-charge for repairs that may not be needed from my experience with them for over a couple of years. It has happened twice. Dropped my car off on May 10 at 7:30 AM for an oil change and a tire patch and spoke to Jonathan about this. Called Jonathan at 3:08 PM on the same day and asked him if the job was finished? He said it was almost finished but the mechanic noticed that my car battery was from 2012 and needed replacement. I told him the battery has been working just fine and I do not want to replace it but wanted to know how much it costs he called me back at 3:10 PM and told me it was about $400 installed. I told Jonathan not to do anything beyond what was already done. He told me the car was ready but it needed washing and he would text me when it was ready. At 3:48 pm, I got a text from Jonathan reporting that the car is ready with the :-). Specifically, his text was "Car is ready :)." I get dropped off at "Foreign Affairs Auto" at about 4.35 pm and Jonathan tells me that there was a problem with the engine oil measuring gauge and it doesn't work properly. When i told him that it had worked fine before, he asked how did i know that? I explained to him that the car drinks oil so every few thousand miles the oil boy gauge reports that I have to add a quart of oil and I've always done that and that's how I knew that the gauge was working just fine since I had just added a quart a month ago. Jonathan seemed a little surprised but said that it's like a bulb which can fuse anytime. (I had purchased the oil from a local repair place and they added a quart about a month ago and they checked the gauge after adding the oil and the gauge was fine since it reported "OK" after they added the oil.). While Jonathan was inside the shop, I spoke to the gentleman who was at the computer and reported to him that I was a little distraught and upset about the engine oil gauge going bad under their care, since it was working just fine before. He told me the same thing but Jonathan said that there's no way of me knowing that the fuel gauge was not working and it can go bad at any time. But I told him how I knew for sure that it had been working and then he backed off and then I also told him that this is the second instance this has happened. After my prior repair, i was told that one of the bulbs of the headlights was bad. As soon as I pulled off their lot after my oil change i did realize that my headlight stopped (one of the bulbs) working and I took it back and they said the same thing that it's it can go bad anytime but it was working just fine when I drop my car off. Bottom line is that i think they tried to upcharge me on the battery replacement and when i denied buying the new battery the mechanic tried a different part so they could charge me for something else. Very disappointed in them particularly since i thought that Jonathan was a stand-up guy. I will be trying to sort this out with him but it seems unlikely that i will be able to. Your Desired Resolution: I believe they should fix this problem that clearly happened on their watch. My car's engine oil gauge was just fine when i dropped my car off. the other repair place is willing to give me an affidavit to that effect. Your case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at Better Business Bureau to ensure that the issues contained in your complaint are able to be handled by BBB and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 30 working days to respond to your complaint. You will be notified when the business has responded.

This aftermarket repair shop has not run well since Klaus left and went to Ferrari. He was fantastic, knew the cars, and was honest. Frank's principal argument rested on his being cheaper than Braman. Well, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.. I would think twice about this low prices provider.

Verbally Foreign Affairs said that my rough idle problem was a defective coil or two and they had to replace all six per BMW specs. They added a "cover your a**" comment to the receipt (after realizing that they had not fixed the problem) stating that the car also needed a crank case vent valve and hose kit. When I complained after picking up the car, they said that I would have to pay another ~ $500 for the vent valve.. After talking to my CA mechanic, I took the  X3 to the local BMW dealer. Braman fixed the problem by replacing the valve that controls the intake mix of oxygen to the injectors. So both the coils AND the vent valve had nothing to do with the issue and they basically ripped me off for $800 and potentially $1300 - and they were even "snotty" about it.

Foreign Affairs is not the cheapest place in town to get
your car repaired but their labor rate is still $70/hr less than the dealer
down the street.  The thing about going
to the dealer is that you can be fairly confident that the car will be fixed properly
and that they?ll back up their work.
This piece of mind goes a long way with me, but on the other hand I wasn?t
keen on spending $900 at the dealer for this relatively simple repair.
All I had was online reviews to go by in choosing Foreign Affairs
as I don?t have a mechanic of choice (I do now).  They were very responsive and thorough in inspecting
and fixing my car.  They found other
issues that they suggested repairing (all legit), and they didn?t respond back
with scare tactics or other pressure when I declined to address the other
issues at this visit.
Their shop is clean and they are very professional.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out when I
picked up my car that they back up their work with a very respectable warranty.  They also hand washed the car and did a very
good job at that.  I feel that their
prices are very fair for the quality of service and attention to detail that
they provided.

We always had good experiences with Foreign Affairs Auto Service with an Audi. After replacing the Audi with a Volvo a couple years ago, we used the local Volvo dealership for all maintenance needs until a major repair was needed. Foreign Affairs welcomed us back and provided the same excellent, fairly priced service that we remembered. It was good to see all of the favorable reviews on Angie's list before heading back. All the same people were at the shop to help us out again. Additionally, they have added some nice online features (emails & texts of real time service reports) so that you can see exactly what they are talking about.

We had been shopping for a low-mile used BMW for a few months when we found the car we wanted at Foreign Affairs.  We were extremely skeptical of using a small dealership because there are so many small shops with shady business practices (slimy used car salesmen, selling previously damaged cars, etc), but I have to say that Foreign Affairs is actually a great place!
Anesh was very patient with us & he agreed to have the few minor cosmetic items touched up before we bought the car.  They provided a CarFax for the car, which is nice, but I don't fully trust CarFax so I also ordered an AutoCheck report.  Both reports checked out, so we test drove the car & loved it.  Even though everything seemed great, I still hired an independent company to inspect the vehicle.  Not only did the dealership not balk at the idea of a third party coming to inspect their vehicle, they gave him a service bay & put the car on a lift for him!
We met the owner (Frank), the sales manager (Jonathan), and the service manager (Klaus), and it was clear that this is a first-class operation.  Frank even made me an espresso - which was a really classy touch.  We will definitely do business with this dealership again!

We called the shop; and they gave us an appointment for the same day. We took the car in and they started looking into the problem immediately. They ordered a part; kept the car overnight; and completed the repair the next day.
The most convenient thing was they gave us a ride home, and gave us a ride back to the shop the next day.
The service manager Frank Ortiz is very pleasant to deal with.

I made an appointment and the car was immediately checked and a detailed print out was provided along with photos of the brake system checked. Outstanding. Professional in all respects. I will bring my car a 2006 330 CIC. here for any work needed in the future.
Everyone was courteous and helpful. Costs were well within reason and explained before any tests were done.

My ?check engine? light came on. I borrowed an engine diagnostic tool from a local auto parts company, plugged it into my car, and determined that I had a problem with either the Oxygen (O2) sensor and/or catalytic converter (cat) on one side of the vehicle. I contacted Foreign Affairs and made an appointment on Dec 10 for them to evaluate this problem. I brought my car to them at 8 AM that day, explained the diagnostic message I received and by noon that day, I received a call from Kim Lalonde, the service manager confirming that it was necessary to replace the CO2 sensor and a catalytic converter on one side of the vehicle and pointing out that there was a small pinhole leak in the exhaust pipe on the other side of the car. He offered me the option to replace the cat with an OEM part or an after-market part. The OEM part was more than twice the cost of the after-market, and given the high mileage and 12 year age of the care, I chose the after-market part. I was given a verbal quote of ?about $1000? for the parts and labor plus the cost of an hour?s labor to repair the pinhole leak. Having done some prior research on the cost of this type of repair/replacement, I thought the quote was very fair.
Kim called me later that same day, to say the cat repair was complete, but he needed to keep the car another day to finish the O2 work and exhaust repair. The following day, I called about 2 PM to get an update on the repair and was told they hoped to be done by 5 pm, but that they would call first. At the end of the day, Kim called to say that the car would be ready before noon the next day (Dec 12). I was contacted about 10:30 on Dec 12 stating the work was complete.
When I retrieved the car that day, I was presented a bill for $1366, an amount that was about 35% higher than quoted. The service manager Kim was not present, but the owner Frank got him on the phone whereupon Kim and I had a conversation about the quote. Kim told me that he did not quote me $1000. Obviously, I was upset because I know that I conducted a very thorough discussion with him only two days earlier, and felt that someone was questioning my integrity. I explained to the owner Frank, that I would pay the amount I was being charged, but I would not be likely to return for more work. Frank was very accommodating, and said that it was important for me to be satisfied and he would do whatever was necessary to make it right. I said I was prepared to pay the amount I was originally quoted plus tax and Frank adjusted the bill accordingly.
Perhaps this misunderstanding is partially my fault, as I should have requested the company to send me a written estimate. However, I know that I was careful to discuss the cost of each item and the total amount due with Kim. The car rides like a dream, the check engine light is now gone, the car was washed well when I picked it up, and the owner did something a large dealership would definitely NOT do, by making a billing adjustment to make sure I was satisfied. I give the owner a lot of credit for resolving the situation to my satisfaction. Obviously, if you are planning to patronize this company, you would be well advised to obtain a written estimate in advance of the work to avoid any potential misunderstanding.
This is a clean, well-organized repair facility that had a number of high-end cars that they were working on when I was there. They also sell luxury autos. I am confident that their work is top-notch. Hopefully, my misunderstanding was just that. Based upon my interaction with the owner, he appears to be a credible businessman, and I will patronize the company again.

I initially took the car to a BMW dealership.  I was given an estimate of $5600 not including tax, and told that the repair could actually be higher depending on what other parts needed to be replaced.  I decided to try Foreign Affairs Auto, as this service department had been recommended by a friend.  I arrived at 8:30 am.  I was given an estimate of $3000 to replace the hydro unit and ABS/DSC pump, with the understanding that costs could increase if other parts needed to be replaced.  The repair was completed by 1:30 pm, earlier than expected.  Total cost was $3279 including tax.
I found this service department to be very efficient and professional.  My car was completely repaired without needing to replace additional parts.  I am extremely happy with the quality, price and efficiency of the repair to my BMW Z4.
