Design Floor & Home

Please be aware that Design Floor and Home does not stand behind its product and work. The owner, Zach, has displayed extremely argumentative and disrespectful behavior, particularly towards women. We hired them to install 1100 sq. ft of hardwood floor. Unfortunately, their samples do not match the actual product they deliver to your home, and they sell poor quality material. Their suppliers are not transparent and unresponsive. The material we purchased arrived defective, and instead of immediately replacing it with a new order, their sales manager, Jason, made us wait three weeks while our floors were stripped and furniture moved out of the room for a supplier representative to assist him. After the representative visited our house, they took another week to ship a new batch, which arrived in even worse condition. However, now they refuse to take any action. Instead, they attempted to quickly install the defective floors so we couldn't do anything about it. We are three months into the project, and the owner refuses to remove the defective planks they installed, leaving us without our bedroom suite. Additionally, it's worth noting that on the day the material arrives, they take 75% of the contracted sum. Please exercise caution when dealing with this company.

Every one of the workers listed below were hired by the contractor ?Design Floor & Home?. The contractor (Jason Barba) told us to contact him with any issues.















We accept the responsibility for thinking when we told the workers what we wanted and they agreed that to do the things we asked them to do. Let?s start with the floor tiles ? the floor tiles were not completely flat in some areas and we had to have them come back to fix. Even now we keep finding tiles that just are not even with other floor tiles. In the master-bath shower we asked for a niche in the wall that was at least 20? x 10?. When the walls were torn out the plumber moved some stuff so that it could be accommodated. When the niche was done it was 17? x 8 1/2?. The tile guys said there wasn?t enough room to make it bigger.















We disagreed based on what we saw when the plumber was moving stuff to accommodate the bigger niche. No changes were made. The smaller tiles in the shower are very uneven and their statement was that this was normal. We don?t agree with that either. The plumber hooked up the water on one of the sinks backward where hot water came out when you turn on the cold water faucet. This was mentioned to the contractor twice, however the plumber did not come back to fix it.















The granite company installed the kitchen counter tops incorrectly and had to come back and tear it all out and install new granite. Shortly after that we discover that they had cut one piece incorrectly at an angle rather than straight (adjacent to range). They sent a team out to attach a sliver to make it strait. It was very obvious that there was a sliver attached. We told the contractor we were not happy. So after a couple of weeks they said they would come and shave the one side down to square it and add a bigger piece to the opposite side. They did this and finally things were fixed. Overall we liked the Contractor (Jason Barba), however the Granite Company he hired will never be recommended by us ever. The carpet installers, cabinet installers, plumber and tile workers were good but not great.

The staff throughout the process were knowledgeable and helpful. The showroom sales representative took time on numerous occasions to explain all the hardwood flooring options and answer questions. He went out of his way to provide samples of product for us to review at home. We had not originally planned to have Design Floor install the flooring but we were impressed by their level of service during the sales process and their competitive bid. The installation process was not straight-forward due to unevenness in our sub-flooring. The installation crew explained the issue and provided an appropriate fix with minimal time lost in the installation process.

We are very happy with our hardwood floors and plan to use Design Floor again soon for a bathroom project.

I started out visiting a couple of flooring businesses, that were listed on Angie's List and in the neighborhood of Design Floor & Home.
After being TOTALLY ignored, at the 2 other Angie's listed businesses, I decided to stop by Design Floor & Home, even though they were not on Angie's List.
From my first visit to their showroom, I felt valued as a potential  customer.  They went out of their way to greet me and to find out why I came in.  From the measuring visits to my home, the installations and the follow-up, minor tweaking of the jobs, the company exceeded my expectations.  It is without reservations that I recommend Design Floor & Home!
