They were very prompt and professional in following up and arrived at the condo early. We went through all the changes I would like to make and after taking time to make detailed measurements. I explained to Bill that I was only receiving 2 quotes out of courtesy to them and that if the numbers were reasonable, there was a very high chance I would hire them. Bill said he would be back in a week with a quote. I waited and waited and waited. After 2 weeks, I called and received a response from his wife that he was busy and they would call me back. I waited another week and still no response. After 3 weeks, I gave up and had to start over with another contractor. It appears they were just too busy and decided not to bid. But they didn't bother to inform me of this. What bothers me most about this experience is that I clearly told them in person and also on email that I was only receiving 2 bids out of courtesy to them. But even with this knowledge, they still didn't bother to inform me when they decided not to pursue the project.
Description of Work: William Billings and his wife came to the condo I'm attempting to close on to get a description of the work I'd like to have done and to collect the information necessary to prepare a quote.

The Member did indeed request a bid on this proposed property he was planning on purchasing. We did meet with him and we explained his request to removed concrete bearing walls to a outdoor patio was not possible. We informed him that what he was requesting was in need of an engineer. We did correspond with him and let him know it would take us a few weeks to get an estimate as he was moving a concrete wall with 3 stories of apartments above him, taking out bathrooms, removing kitchen walls and relocating plumbing and electrical. His expectations were beyond what he could do in this condo he was planning on purchasing. This type of request take a long period of time to put together an estimate. If he is disappointed that we did not respond as quickly as he would like, I am truly sorry. But he did not inform us that we would be getting this job and only indicated that he was asking what this would cost to do this before his decision to purchase the condo. He was getting bids from other contractors. Given the time frame he was requesting this was not possible. For us to put together this so quickly quotes are needed from engineers, plumbers, and electricians to complete a estimate. After careful consideration I felt this was not a job we could complete to his satisfaction. Their was no courtesy granted to us as a favor, he was taking other bids along with ours and was going to make a decision on the price that fit his budget. I felt we could not meet his unrealistic budget requirements. So yes we did decide not to bid. As for follow up, we should have informed him sooner that this was a project that we could not have meet what he expected for a price he wanted to pay. We were in the process of getting other estimates when yes he did continually call and I did inform him we would return his call when we had more information for him. We are a company that prides ourselves in good customer service and our initial contact with him was positive. We do followup with our customers and make it a point to give the best quality job we can. But with his expectations of what could be accomplished we could not meet this expectation for him. All of our customers have been pleased with our services, our work and our followup. This was a person and a job for someone who would not have been pleased whether we bid or did not bid on his project.
