The Worst alarm company bar none! We paid them to monitor our house and smoke alarms. The smoke alarm went off for no reason, so we had to unplug it. ADT said it had no record of the alarm going off, even though we are paying for them to monitor it. We simply asked for a credit for the fire alarm service, ADT is not delivering. They refused to do so. They said they must sent out a technician at $75 for a half-hour to fix their faulty equipment. We refused to do so and will be cancelling with this criminal company. ADT could care less about your security, it is all about the money!

I've had problems with them.  They can not keep up with their technology like their technology is not working and they have server problems.  They are not responding favorably on a timely manner so I finally have to cancel the service all together.  I gave them opportunity to come back in to take a look at the technology and replace, upgrade it but my problem with them even if the technology is obsolete they still want to charge me to replace an obsolete technology.  I was looking for an ultimate security provider but it's difficult.  We were loyal customers for years but it seems like the salesperson was looking ahead for the strictly business point of view rather than customers/client point of view.

When I first met my husband 9 years ago he had ADT Security in the house.  They kept calling him at 2 a.m. to tell him the battery backup needed to be changed.  After months of these calls in the middle of the night we found another company and changed.
We switched to Brinks, which was sold to Broadview, which to our horror was sold to ADT.  Which brings us to tonight.
My husband and I were out at a meeting this evening and I got a call from ADT that my alarm was going off.  I asked if it was the door in the laundry room because my female dog thinks it's funny to open that door.  They insisted that it was the front door and did we want to call the police.
My husband got on the phone with them and asked again if it was the laundry room door, they insisted that it was the front door.
We were about 15 minutes from the house.  I was histerical partly because I have a neurological disorder that includes severe panic disorder.  We rushed to the house.  All I could see was my female dog, who is a trained serve dog, running around the neighborhood not letting us catch her because she thinks it funny.  And my male hound dog, who is 74 pounds of stupid and would not react well if someone approached him suddenly.  In my area the police would have shot him and then sad "lady is this your dog."
We got to the house and all doors were locked and secure.  Upon entering the house we found the laundry room door open.  My husband called ADT and told them all the problems they had caused and they did not care.
When we had Brinks my dog used to open the door all the time and they even had it in the file that the family has a dogopens doors.
ADT could not care less that they were giving false information.  They could not care less that they were dealing with a person with a disability and making it worse.  The could not care less. 
When my husband and I calm down we will look up alarm companies on Angiies List and getting the h*** away from ADT for good.

I have had a horrendous experience with them.  They are a horrible company.  They came into my home and I was on the way working and doing my job.  They got my husband to sign.  My husband said that he should not sign and we both should make this decision together.  They didn't want to wait for that.  They were out here soliciting in my subdivision, which says no solicitation.  They came the same day and installed the system in my home.  They left a big hole in my ceiling and they have not paid me for it, which was 9 months ago.  They were going to come back, but I never heard from them.  They won't pay me for the repair.  The bill was taken out of my husband's account automatically and I stopped that too.  The bill was $42 a month, but initially they had him to give them a check for $100.  I took them to even business bureau and that's how I got them to stop billing me.  I have cancelled it.  They refused to come get their equipment, and they have refused to reimburse for the damage done.  It was awful.  It's been a nightmare.  It messes up the confidence level to do even business with such people.  This happened last August and they say that if the customer calls within 72 hours then they cancel the contract; but they didn't even honor that.  They came out here one time.  They were out here walking in the neighborhood.  My husband had gone to the mailbox and that's where they caught him.  My husband had a stroke, so he has paralysis on the right side.  My husband's doctor told that my husband was not responsible and he wouldn't have understood or interpreted that agreement because of his stroke.  I had a POA and I gave them all this information and it's still hasn't been resolved.  They have sent the email to the upper management and I have emailed the documents to them twice as well as faxed them.  Last time, I emailed them; so if they don't have it then I can email them again with no problem.  There were two gentlemen.  It seems like they have a company that actually goes out there and generates the works called secure watch and then the paperwork goes to ADT.  If they were the last people on the earth, I would not do business with them at all.  It cost me so much frustration and anxiety because I walked around looking at the hole in my ceiling two months.  Then right before the holidays, they still wouldn't come out and I called them almost daily.  I just went ahead and got it fixed because I had people coming for Christmas.

I have been a loyal ADT customer for close to 25 years. 20yrs. in Ohio and 5yrs. in Florida. I recently upgraded my ADT security system to their new "PULSE" system. It has now been three weeks from when they originally started installation and hopefully on the 6th phase of installation at my home tomorrow they will have completed the job. On the original installation we were told by our salesman that it would be close to an all day job. Installer showed up and spent three hours and said he was finished. When explaining the system to us we noticed that he did not install a zone expander that we had ordered and been billed and his reason was because they had not put it on the truck. They also did not put on the truck two modules to be able to turn lights off and on remotely. Also, the installer took with him all the old equipment without our knowledge or consent. We had planned on giving it to a relative so he could use at his home. (End of phase one) That evening we were not able to use the system because he had the motion detector on live for all settings. We had to complain loudly the next day to get an installer out to at least correct the motion detector problem so we could use the system. (End of phase two) We actually had to initiate the call for them to come out and supposedly finish the original job. Installer arrived as scheduled, spent about a half hour looking at what needed to be done and then said that since the first installer had cut all of the wires he didn't know what wires went where and that they would need to come out again with two installers to finish the job. (End of phase three) Again we had to contact ADT to schedule trip 4 because after 24 hours they had not contacted us. Installers arrived with missing equipment and finished installation of hard wired equipment. However after hours on the phone with their tech support staff and switching out cameras they could not get the wireless camera to work and said they would need to return with a new router and new camera to determine the problem. (End of phase 4) The evening of trip number four we had to call customer service because the installer left the system in set-up mode and it was not working. (End of phase 5)  Quite unbelievable at this point, but they still did not call to schedule thier fifth attempt to install a basic security system. After 24 hours from the failed trip number 4 we called ADT and had to basically tell them that if they didn't get it working by tomorrow we would be looking for a different security company. Fifth and final trip is scheduled for tomorrow. If it isn't working 100% by then ADT is history at our house. I also called ADT corporate this morning to voice my compalints and wanted to know how they wanted to compensate me for this horrendous customer service experience. They said that they would get back to me after the installation is complete. However, their record on being pro-active and initiating a call hasn't been what one would call stellar, so I'm not holding my breath.

8/13/2012 - Footnote - ADT could never get the Pulse system working properly in our home. They finally gave up, removed the system, and after waiting 30 days we have finally been credited back for the equipment etc. that was returned. Sad to say that they did not offer any compensation for all the time and trouble, and days off work we had to take because their wireless system didn't work. They did quote us for hard wired cameras at a cost of over $2,000.00. We said no thanks. Went to Radio Schack and purchased our own hard wired system that had two cameras, a dvr with  a terabyte of memeory, and is expandable up to four cameras for just over $500.00. Did the isntallation myself and accomplished in one day what ADT could not do in two months and at a fraction of their cost. Lesson learned the hard way.

The alarm system is in but their advertisement is a little misleading as to what they would do for me, and that is not the only thing. They put in certain things like motion detectors and things like that and they were not covered in the advertisement. The price is comparable with that of everybody else. They were punctual. I am going to terminate at the end of the three-year contract.

I have never had to call them for a security breach. I had the alarms installed on my doors and windows. The few times we had to call them for minor issues they were very prompt. I feel the rates are reasonable. I will continue to utilize their services.

The service was excellent. The salesman didn't try to sell us up and was only interested in giving us exactly what we needed for the security of our home and ourselves. They were on time, always professional and the monitoring service is an ongoing thing which we feel is the best in the business.
