We contacted the custom decorating department at JC Penney to receive a quote and possibly install plantation shutters on a bedroom window. We received a quote, signed a contract, and gave a deposit. It was emphasized that we could not cancel the contract without forfeiting the deposit. We were called a short time later and asked to come back to the store. The salesperson stated that she looked at the wrong books while giving the quote, and the actual price would be more than double what was initially quoted. They refused to honor the contract on their end even though they emphasized that we were not allowed to cancel the contract on our end. Management was of no help and refused to honor the contract or even offer an additional discount due to the inconvenience and incompetence of the salesperson. We were able to get our deposit back and will never be shopping here again.
