Description of Work: Mr. Klein is a true professional in every sense of the word. This is not the first time I've had him tune our piano and I'll be a customer as long as he remains in business. We have a Kawai GS-30 and he tuned it to A-440, F#4 damper was adjusted to restore proper function and he tightened the loose leg bolts. He is committed to customer satisfaction, arrives precisely on time, and works unobtrusively and with obvious attention to detail. We couldn't be happier with his services

I made the appointment with Ned for 5:00pm and he called me right at that time when waiting outside of my home. I had been late for about 10 minutes (I admit that I shouldn?t) because of the traffic, and he had no complaining at all. He spent some time to check the piano and gave me 2 options of the services and the related rates. He explained in details that what each service covers. After his service, all the problems are corrected. Ned is a very nice person, and he has the professional demeanor. When he was working on the piano, my 8-year old was very curious about the structure inside the piano, and asked many irrelevant questions. He spent time to answer each question patiently and only continued working after my son finished all the questions. Before he left, he said I could call him anytime if there are any problems, and that he will stop by to check. Ned has provided first-class service and we?ll definitely use him again.
Description of Work: I have a second hand Yamaha upright that has never been tuned since we bought it from a store several years ago for my kids. Recently my kids thought it had problems of vibrations on several keys, so I called Ned for the tuning service. He conducted the basic tuning and corrected the vibration on the problematic keys. His standard price for basic tuning is $95, and vibration correction is $20. After 5% Angieslist discount, the total is $109 which I think is very reasonable.

Ned Klein, is a Steinway specialist who worked in Boston for many years. It was important for me to find, not just a piano tuner, but someone familiar with the inner workings of not just any piano, but an older Steinway - somone who could restore a piano, in short, if needed. Originally I called my piano tuner/restorer of many years but he had become terribly busy. He recommended several temporary solutions for the holidays that he wouldn't guarantee, then later suggested a terribly expensive over-haul -- The total cost of all this work would have added up $3000 or more. I took a chance when I googled Mr. Klein, but I liked his website, and talking with him made me feel very comfortable about his experience & knowledge. Most importantly, he had time to see me. He explained everything he was going to do and what the problems were. He was prompt, efficient and very nice. In a world of "in & out" service, Mr Klein has raised the bar on excellence. And for this we should all be grateful.
Description of Work: I have a 1928 Steinway Grand. The "Action" was sluggish & sticking & non-responsive (This has happened periodically over the years.) Mr. Klein, whom I found on the internet after "googling" piano tuners, came to house to my rescue on a Monday. Took the Action out of the piano, showed me the problem in detail-The hammers were out of alignment. Dropping & rising at different heights & at different speeds. The screws in each hammer would have to be replaced, the hammers measured and reset and finally refiled. He gave me a very reasonable estimate. I paid him a deposit and he took the Action home with him (in his car) & worked on it for 4 days, returned to my house & re-installed the Action in the piano. He then spent 4 hours cleaning & tuning the piano. The piano has never sounded better and just in time for Christmas caroling. I would recommend him to anyone.
