We hired Hondumex six months ago. We hired him from a reference from Angie. Hondumex was an Angie certified professional. After seeing Elmerâ s work firsthand, I have some questions about how thoroughly Angie vets their professionals. Based on Elmer Hernandez (DBA Hondumex Landscaping) I think they need to upgrade their vetting process. From the first day we had issues with Elmer. For two weeks, he didnâ t show on the days promised, nor did he mow the lawn - stating that the grass needed to â rest,â from the weekly mowing, and he needed to do â maintenance .â We never were clear about what he meant by â maintenance.â Iâ ve never had to micromanage my lawn care as much as I did with Hondumex. Each week resulted in a poor job. For weeks, my wife and I were not home to observe his work; but it never improved. Finally, after noticing a steady decline in the yardâ s appearance, over a number of weeks, I made a point to stay home and watch his work. He and his crew spent less than 15 minutes a week on my yard. For a month, they did not trim the hedges, nor did they edge the sidewalk, the driveway or the walkway. The cut setting on his mower was set so high that after three days the yard looked ready to mow again. After a month, the yard looked ragged and his work was shoddy , at best. It should be noted, I set Elmer up on my financial institutionâ s auto pay plan. Each month, he was paid on time, without fail. Finally, the first of July, I informed him that we were not pleased with his work and made itemized, detailed instructions for him to improve his performance. My wife and I had an appointment out of town on the day he usually worked on our yard, so when we came home we were anxious to see how he performed. We were really disappointed. Instead of following our detailed instructions, he gave lip service to performing a professional job and left our hedges ragged and unkempt. His crew did not edge the entire lawn, as I specifically requested, but left more than half of the area undone. He did lower the cut setting on his mower, but that was the only improvement made. In summary, Hondumex (DBA Elmer Hernandez) apparently does not have the skills needed to perform a professional lawn maintenance service. He does not seem to be able to perform independently or by management. He did not display any ability to look at a lawn and to determine the work needed. Iâ m not sure who wrote the other reviews that were favorable to this company, but I suspect they are not actual customers. In short, I do not recommend Hondumex (DBA Elmer Hernandez) for lawn care of any nature. I terminated his work and would not hire him again under any circumstances.
