Well, even if we raise the sq' to 100sq' for simplicity, their order was not 115sq' but 137sq ft. That's more than 30% extra. In light of the fact that we'd be keeping the excess in case of an emergency, that was ok.
HOWEVER, their installation price was $3.50 per foot, and they charged us, not for the actual 100sq' of the floor, but for the ENTIRE amount of the order. That is for 137sq'! In effect, we were charged an installation fee for all of the extra tiles the were NOT installed; that were left over: about $129. When asked about this they said "that's the way the installers charge". "They charge for whatever they handle". I asked: "even if all they do is unload it?". He said "whatever they handle".
Then, we were charged extra for the mortar, and for the grout. We did agree to pay an upgrade for special grout, but you'd think the mortar would be a part of the cost. They said "no".
Then, they checked to confirm that tile we were buying form them was in stock at the warehouse; after all, they are selling it to us. So, they said it was, and that they could/would get it in time to meet our install date. Well, they did get it. AND charged us $1 per TILE shipping charge. Remember... they went WAY over their overage of 15% to 37%, and thus made even more money by charging us $1 per extra tile too.
We don't know if these are part of what goes on every where, of if it's isolated to one/few. Just be aware all these little "gimmicks" and add-ons when, or if you ever buy flooring or installation from anyone. We'll be MUCH more cautious in future dealing with anyone in flooring.
FYI: after the final install, we met with them to offer to let them issue some credits. First for the " $125 freight/delivery charged. " Second, for the excess above the actual footage. That's $129.50. They declined that opportunity. Not nastily. I tried one more time, saying we would be writing report about the experience. They looked a little alertedly puzzled, then stood pat on their answer. We said, "ok", and paid their statement in full and wished them a good day and advised I'd be proceeding accordingly. Which is what led to this report. Report made 5/6/2016. Our records retained/available.
- One person installed about ten tiles when it was determined that a thick set installation was necessary vs. a thin set. No choice so had to pay additional money.
- Another person removed and started the new thick set installation with the wrong pattern. We were assured we would not notice it once the floor was all done
- So many flawed tiles had were installed and then had to be replaced to the point that there is no stock left for possible future repairs.
- We feel the entire Medallion is not installed at the proper level of surrounding ceramic tiles. Additionally the individuals tiles have sharp edges and are uneven.
- Wrong color transition strips ordered to match the ones that were installed (to keep on hand for future repairs and Sonya argued they were the right ones until our sales person suggested the sample board be utilized for comparison. We were correct.
- To top it off, after the grout, which we upgraded to a premium acrylic, has to be sealed after 30 days, by someone they gave us the card for or by us. Not included in price...
No response to email communication from Salesperson regarding follow up appt. to have medallion installation discussion.

Owner, Dave, left a voice message with regard to trying to set up an appointment to coordinate with our schedule and the owner, our salesperson and our main installer come over to go over issues with the medallion and defective pcs. of tile. We appreciated this offer very much. Still working on a good day and time where we do not have to use vacation time from job, as their hours are the same and Saturday was not offered as an option. Optimistic we can figure something out soon.
