Lawn Irrigation
The son of the owner came to my parents home in Vero Beach to repair an irrigation
pump. They removed the pump and took it back to the shop to repair. They
returned to the home with the pump provided an invoice for 450.00. My
parents wrote the check while they worked on installing the pump (I
know.. they should have waited). When they wired up the pump it tripped
the breaker. In an attempt (apparently) to stop the breaker from tripping they
circumvented the on/off switch and attempted to wire the pump directly
to the electrical line and then switched the breaker back on. There was a flame and a pop and the wires melted
together - the box melted as well. The breaker blew and electric outlets
on the boat dock (which were conncected to that line as well) also blew
out. Rather than admit that they should have not tried to wire the pump
DIRECTLY TO a 220 line they told my parents that their wiring was bad,
refused to return the check, and left. My parents had to hire an
electrician who confirmed that their wiring was (previously) just fine
and that the (in his words) "incredibly dumb" electric work of the B and M staff
caused the problems. He stated that he was surprised they had not
injured themselves or done more damage. When my parents contacted the
owners of B and M they were met with hostility and rudeness. Please save yourself and your house and skip them!
