I thought they were incredibly expensive. There was a problem with the building's plumbing. It was being manifested in our unit. So, it really wasn't our problem, it was the building's problem. I had them come out twice to deal with this issue. They charged me $700 each time they came. The quality of the work was not very good either. They were good in terms of getting here.

They gave me a overly inflated estimate for a split A/C system. It wasn't even a name brand one but a knockoff.  Their estimate was about $2500 higher than the company I went with and that company gave me a TRANE.  You can't go wrong with a TRANE.  It was just to high for a knockoff brand.

Modern came recommended by my son as they did his AC a few years ago and he was very happy with their service. I found them to be honest in their estimate. We had 5 estimates and 2 of the 5 told us that all the attic duct work needed to be replaced. Modern was among the 3 that was honest enough to tell me that replacing all of the attic duct work  was unnecessary at this time. We went with another highly rated provider, but appreciated that Modern Anderson was honest and did not sell us something that was not needed.

In regards to the bypass defrost board, they didn't have one on the truck.  Anderson wanted to order one and come back and charge me again to come out and install. I ordered a new one through another vendor at a much lower cost. I called Anderson and told them I had a new and asked them to come out for little to no charge since they would have taken care of it under the same service call had they had one on their truck. They refused.

Less than a year later, I started to get concerned about the Defrost Board because without it I would have no heat in the winter. A neighbor was a plumber and I had him attempt to replace the old one with the new one. Unfortunately,  he did not have a schematic so he could not replace the wiring that Anderson had illegibly installed during their last service call, so, we had to stick with the old board.  Surprisingly, later when I turned on the heating, it worked. So either the board itself was not defective or the wiring they had put in to bypass the board was not effective. Seems to me something illegitimate happened.

The tech called to inform me that the problem was the thermostat.  He said this was not covered, even though the contract reads as follows:  "We agree to furnish and install parts and labor necessary to repair the listed equipment to good operating equipment."  How the controller of the system isn't part of the system is beyond me, but I agreed to pay $223 for a new thermostat.
 The tech then said he suspected the system may also have a leak so he put dye in the system and would come back in a week to check it.  The tech came back today,  informed me there was a leak and I needed to pay him $350 for doing the dye test as this was also not covered.  Then he said the estimate to repair the evaporator coil was $1,000 as this part was also, not covered. Later I was told the correct estimate for the coil was $1,700.
I called Gail McNicol, the contract administrator at 800-572-0852 and told her what was going on and that it was wrong.  She referred me to the boss, Bill Parmann at 941-716-6488 who told me that they had recently added exclusions to their agreement which is why I now had to pay.  I told him there was no where in the contract that these exclusions were listed.  He said they were printed on the back of the agreement.  The back of my agreement, sent to me by Gail, is BLANK.  No one would sign a maintenance agreement and equipment insurance agreement with a company that excludes the thermostat controller, tests run to trouble shoot problems and then the most important parts of the system, the coils.  I told Mr. Parmann to cancel my agreement, reverse the charge of $774 on my Visa, and not bill me for the dye test. I agreed to pay for the thermostat since that is a piece of equipment that was installed and I do not want them back in my house to remove it.
Mr. Parmann said he would reverse the charges and cancel the agreement but who knows what these folks will do next?  Regardless, Angie's List subscribers should know about this company's new list of exclusions printed in invisible ink on the back of their agreement. Its disgusting.

Office called morning of appt. to verify time frame. Technician (Tyler)arrived within time window. We explained that we had recently purchased this double-wide and had no idea of when last service had been done. We were not experiencing any problems with air or heat. He thoroughly checked and explained everything to us. He replaced the filter, found the outside drain plugged into the ground and fixed that. He cleaned a very dirty coil. 
Tyler was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained left us with information about the company's service plans but didn't pressure us to buy one.  
Definitely will call this company again. One note: the price was with an Angie's List coupon. Normal price would be $79.00.

I was pleased with it.  I have a member in the household here with asthma, I was looking for the best possible dust filtration system and with what we have, and it has been good so far.  The contact person was very prompt in getting back to us for any kind of questions we had, which I did not experience with some of the other vendors we have gotten quotes from.  The installation took them a bit longer than as projected.

The technicians who diagnosed the air conditioning problem, and the dispatchers with whom I spoke were very knowledgable, thoughtful and helpful. They made me feel well cared for in my hot weather distress. They also came to help at unpopular hours;
and they were straight forward and helpful talking to me about my options. There are not enough superlative words to describe their professional and competent service.

I called at 0800 and was told that a technician would arrive but they could not tell me when.  After several hours and several calls from me,they finally told me it would be late afternoon.  I was called at 1945 by the technician and told he was on his way.  That is not "late afternoon."  It was the lack of communication and the wasted day that causes me to I say would never use this company again.  Phil, the technician arrived at about 2010 and was very professional and thorough.  I was very satisfied with his work but will not use Anderson again because of their lack of communication.

Heat and AC would not come on.  Tech quickly located and repaired a
malfunctioning pressure switch.  The service tech was efficient, highly
competent, and explained the problem and solution thoroughly.  This was the second time we have used Anderson, and we are  impressed enough with their people that we will be buying a service contract from them.

Thinking it was the best, I purchased a Rheem  A/C Model #RHPNHM3624JC from Anderson Service for Home and Business on 10/20/10 for the amount of $5238.  I also purchased the maintenance agreement and during the last inspection, on June 22, they discovered something wrong.    The unit has a 10 year Warranty for parts.  I just received and paid a LABOR bill for $1059 for them to put in a new part.  Is this a scam?  I was told that all the companies are having trouble with the same part.  If that is true, then why do the A/C companies sell the units that have the trouble, and why don't they tell the new owners?  I would have bought a labor and part service agreement.....but on the other hand, if they were made and installed properly no new owner should have this problem.  There is also the chance that the part may again break down within another 2 years.  Is this the way to do business?  I don't think so.

"The purchase price referred to in this report also included an accessory filter rack, an ultraviolet light in the air handler cabinet to reduce microbial growth and the installation of a new 40 gallon hot water heater Both the AC and Plumbing work were permitted and passed county inspection. Although I did not personally participate in our sales presentation, I do know that we routinely offer manufacturer’s parts and/or labor warranties to supplement the standard “out of the box” warranty. We are also licensed by the State of Florida Department of Insurance to offer and underwrite our own parts and labor warranty along with our preventive maintenance agreements that are independent of the manufacturer. I do not know what was discussed with Member. We would not offer a consumer a product that we felt had a poor performance history because that damages the trust we have built up over the past 40 years plus we, along with the customer, live with the headaches."

We purchased a short sale home and the AC system has not been used in over a year so we needed to have everything checked out before we moved.
