Problem was not completely a solid failure, but I described the symptoms well enough that, along with the technician's observations, they recommended replacement of the opener motor. Problem has not re-occurred and operation is better than original (due to improved motor assembly). I am pleased. I choose this company because (1) they installed the original 3+ years ago and (2) when I had a control board failure that was just outside the warranty coverage period, they opted to replace the board without any charge to me (even though they did not have to do so).

They came in and even though I was told up front that I may need a new opener it turned out to be a minor problem which they fixed on the spot
