had a party to go to at 5 pm. I don't think I would use him again.
All cabinets were taped and covered in plastic. They cleaned up the work areas before leaving for the day.We have all ready scheduled a return for another job.
Our neighbor, who is a contractor, said that he knew they were good, because they cleaned up everything at the end of each day.
Initially, the owner, Jim Bonito, gave us a lot of confidence in his abilities and he seemed very personable, so we decided to give our business to him as a local company/businessman. When it came to do the job he contracted someone else to do it instead of doing it himself (as he had promised) and he went on vacation instead. He caused all kinds of delays by failing to order the correct number of tiles and the contractors had to wait for additional tiles to come in while they were half way through the job.
One of the limestone tiles cracked within a few weeks and Jim Bonito came in with a jackhammer to remove the tile causing further damage to a number of surrounding tiles (this did surprise us and we subsequently found out that using a jackhammer on a limestone floor is completely inappropriate).
We also had other problems with tiles that should never have been laid as they had surface damage. Jim Bonito advised that he would seal the tiles to try and cover these problems by giving the floor a consistent finish. The type of sealer he used should never have been used on a limestone floor and it actually highlighted the defects further by making the floor shiny.
We ended up jointly contracting another company to resolve all of the issues after 6 months of trying to get him to sort everything out (we had to do all the chasing up to get anything moving). Luckily we had refused to pay the final balance, whilst these matters remained outstanding, which was our saving grace.
Less than one year after the job was completed, further cracks developed in the floor and when we asked Jim Bonito to come in and advise what he thought was going on he absolutely refused, stating that he never offered us any kind of warranty with the job (which was the first we had heard of it).
We were very surprised that he would not even come to advise us what he thought, even if he was not planning on resolving the issues under warranty.
We contacted Jim Bonito almost 20 times over a period of 7 weeks (by phone, cellphone and text message) but he refused to return our calls and finally sent us a text message threatening to call the Police if we didn't stop calling him; none of which we could understand because our final dealings with him had been amicable, despite all of the problems.
At this point, we contacted the Better Business Bureau to make a complaint and Jim Bonito wrote to them stating that he had offered us 'crack suppression membrane' and stated that we had refused to purchase it. This was absolutely untrue. We had never heard of it (it was never discussed or quoted in any of the original quotes) and in fact, once we found out what it was, we realized that Mr Bonito had removed the existing crack suppression membrane which was already installed by the original builders when he pulled up the original tiles.
All in all, a horrendous experience that we would not wish others to go through and we are now left with footing the bill for further repair work.

"In response to the above I am inserting the letter that was drafted up for the Venice Chamber of Commerce. It is as follows: This is how the job proceeded. Member came into our store and chose 18x18 marble. Then Member came back at least 10 times because she was not sure on the selection. She finally made her selection and was going to come in and pay the material deposit but her mind yet once again and decided to to go to another store and choose another marble from a totally different supplier. I did not have Global Tile and Marble set up as a distributor, so knowing that she wanted this particular marble, I set up an account to buy through them to make sure she was satisfied. I then brought the marble to her house and many tiles were shipped and unacceptable, so I brought them back and received a new order. The new order still had some chipped ones in the batch but they ( Customers) accepted them and my installers began installing them. When the job was finished , they (Customers) complained about the look 9the finish) and one chipped edge of a marble. So i fixed the chip. As for the finish, they ( Customers) decided to seal the marble themselves and did not apply correctly, so decided to blames me for the poor finish. I went back and spent the whole day trying to rub out the sealer THEY HAD APPLIED INCORRECTLY. I then reapplied new sealer CORRECTLY.When I was finished it looked exactly like the product they had picked out and purchased but they still called me back, unhappy and wanted me to fix the marble yet again (because it was TOO SHINY).. With investigation(because of their unhappiness), I hired TJ from Rembrandt Surface Systems Inc to come in and hone down the tile at our cost because they (Customers) were threatening to sue us because Member was a lawyer.Rembrandt done an excellent job and they (Custmoers) were happy with the look of the floor. My company even went to the extent of hiring a cleaning crew to clean up after the mess was made fixing marble (at my cost and no cost to them). Now, over a year has passed and the ground in which the house was built has settled more, and supposedly 3 marbles are cracked. I did not warranty any of my work as they (Customers) refused to purchase CSM 90 Crack Supression. I have never warrantied my work unless the customer purchases CSM 90 Crack Supression and they (Customers) were not willing to spend the extra money for this product, so they took the risk. There is also the fact that the environment was working in was very hostile between the two homeowners. There was alot of screaming and cursing while in their home and to be truthful, it is not an environment a business man or family man would care to revisit. I, Jim Bonito, feel as though my company has gone over and beyond what the job was originally.. They (Customers) chose a marble that they ended up not liking after it was set and my company ended up paying for it in the end and losing an ample amount of money in the process of customer satisfaction Sincerely, Jim Bonito/Bonito Tile."
