A Joy Chimney Service

Appeared to do an excellent job of cleaning the stack and the minor repairs appear to be holding well but the black patch has changed color to silver.

Generally I like to use small business, however after my experience with Larry I have a different opinion. First Joy Chimney is a one man show. Three weeks after I made my deposit I had to contact Larry to see why the job had not started. Apparently he got sick, it took a total of 7 weeks for the job to be completed. During the process it was up to me to contact him for status updates, he never called me. Due to the slow work and the lack of communications I would not recommend Joy Chimney.

You won't find better.

Very polite and accommodating.  My only issue was that they only work in my area when they are in my area.  Flue issue was not dectected by them.  I had documentation from my home inspection.
Did not realize they were on Angie's list.  Used them on a personal referral.

Arrived on time and did a great job with no mess. inspected the roof for rust and leaks. Would definitely recommend.

The next day, I noticed a large plastic bag in the living room that didn't look familiar. When I looked inside, it was full of the sooty debris from the cleaning!! He didn't even take the bag out or tell me he wasn't going to!!!

I then had the fireplace company come out to install a new damper. He questioned if I was going to have it cleaned! I told him that I had just paid someone the previous week to clean it, I didn't watch every movement, but assumed that the job was being done correctly. He told me that the chimney wasn't clean and needed cleaning. So, I had to have it cleaned.

We have used them before to clean our chimney and have alwasy received excellant service. They arrived on time, performed the service and left after cleaning up. They were very professional and there was no mess for us to clean up.

He was very good. It was excellent, he even wore a top hat. He did a great job with cleanup.

They were very good and very clean and cleaned up after themselves. They laid out protective material for any dirt that came out of the chimney. He came with his top hat and that was fierce. The price was comparable for having two services done together.

It's a local company here in the Brandon area. I've used them for years. They are on Angie's List too. They are always prompt. They are very tidy. They clean up their mess. They are well experienced in it. They are very responsive. I would continue to use them in the future.

When he was on the roof, he had me turn the dryer on. He then dropped a chain down the flue of the chimney and moved it up and down. It really made a difference and I was very impressed with the results.

Used my fireplace the night before and we started to notice a smokey smell. The next morning I wrote down 6 names of chimney sweepers from angies list and called several hoping to have someone out today due to upcoming cold front. All were nice but Larry said he would squeeze us in this afternoon. He and his partner came out that afternoon, calling me ahead of time he was on his way, and swiftly and cleanly did his job. Excellant results, we used our fireplace that night with no further smell.

Called at noon to report the problem and they arrived that afternoon after finishing another job. They were very careful to do a clean job in a timely manner.

I called Larry this morning and much to my surprise they were able to be here the same day! He went right up onto the roof and cleaned out a few years worth of lint that was keeping my dryer from working fully-not to mention it was a fire hazard. The work took only about 10 minutes and he put a little sticker on my dryer (its unobtrusive) reminding me to have the work done again in a year.

I called on Friday, asking for service on Monday or Tuesday. Received a call Tuesday morning, saying they would arrive around 1:00. They showed up promptly, surveyed the situation and set to work after spreading a cloth to protect my floor. The team was very cordial, professional and efficient.

I was very pleased at the response to my call and the work was scheduled and completed as scheduled. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and will definitely use them again.

Surprisingly they were very tidy and left the area clean. The workers were very nice and professional. They came in and did their job quickly and left.

Larry called on the day of my original appointment (a Monday) and apologized that he would not be able to make it. An emergency came up that would take him to the east coast. He offered to come on Tuesday, but I let him know I wouldn't be home again until Wednesday. He said he'd call back then. I called him Wednesday morning to get an idea of when he'd be out. He estimated between 11:30 and 1:00. At 1:00 he called to apologize that he was late, but on his way. Seeing how dirty his hands are from all his work, I'm sure stopping in the middle of a job to call someone is the last thing on his mind. Once Larry arrived, he and his helper were fast and efficient. Their vacuum setup kept the house ash/soot free while they worked. Larry explained the issue with the damper clearly, informed me I needed a new fireplace grate (I hadn't even noticed it was bent on one side), and even told me the only place I can buy a new grate year round (Ace Hardware). I asked about the difficulty of replacing the fireplace screen/surround (due to rusting from previous water damage) and he explained that it's relatively easy to replace ourselves and how to do it.

Everything was done in a timely manner. He made a good suggestion that we get a CO2 detector.

All this work was done while letting me watch and ask questions, which were answered pleasantly and knowledgeable. Larry gave me the information I need to feel secure in operating my fireplace safely. Also, Larry was very flexible on scheduling. Initially, he had said they would be arriving after 1:00 p.m. He called about 11:30 a.m. to say they would be at my home in 10 minutes; I was at my office since they were not expected until later. He was willing to go on to another appointment, arriving after 2:00 p.m. (extra work on other job ran long) to perform the work. I appreciate his flexibility; service co demands 8-5; the cable company states 8-12 or 1-5...then shows up a 6:30 p.m. I also appreciate his willingness to educate people like myself who have never used a fire place!

On time, fair price, and knew what he was doing.

The gentleman was punctual knowledgeable and the price was good. He had the part with him and knew exactly what to do.
