Doug was strictly a tile installation man. They had given me a quote to do the whole job, $5600 for two bathroom walls and 1700 sq. ft. of floor tile installation. He ended up using subcontractors, which was not the impression I'd gotten. They used tile cutters, which is not the right way. It's best to use a wet saw, which is far faster and more accurate.
They started the job doing wall tile in two bathrooms. They got most of the walls up and Doug came back to me and said it was a much bigger job than he expected, although he?d seen the house 2-3 times before. He knew what he was getting himself into. We negotiated for $400 more.
¾ of the way through the bathrooms, he wanted $2000 more to do the job. At that point I said I?ve had enough of you and fired him on the spot. I?d paid him $2100 up front.
