This project has been a nightmare from the word go.



We signed an agreement with Mr. Rick Metz on April 15, 2014. We were told that the project would take about 6-8 weeks and that we would only be out of our bedroom for 3 weeks.  Five months later we are still not in our bedroom.  We have been out of our bedroom for 14 weeks. 



Throughout this project we have had to be on top of everything because Mr. Metz doesn't supervise his workers.  He sends them to work then pulls them to go to another job.  Our roof leaked twice before he actually had them finish it correctly even though he had told us that it was "water tight". 



Mr. Metz was rarely on site, trusting his employees to send him pictures of the work.  By the time he actually set foot on the site the shower was in such a mess it had to be completely torn out and they are still in the process of redoing it.  Our pocket doors were installed with the wrong handles so now when you push the door in it stays because the screw gets caught on the frame of the door. The bedroom floor had to be done three times because they didn't level the concrete floor prior to installing the laminate flooring.  Even after supposedly leveling the floor it still has areas that are rather "spongy". 



We gave him a 46 item punch list on August 25th and three weeks later less than half of it was completed.  Mr. Metz communicates when it suits him.  We have put off posting any reviews until now but we are at our wits end.  We just want people to know about our experience so they can make an educated decision on whether to hire his company.   

It was very frustrating to work with them.  The contractor himself, Rick Metz, never came onsight after the day he did the estimate, even though he kept saying he would.  Every single task ran late and needed rework.  It was estimated as a 3 week job and it took several months to complete.
They made huge messes and never cleaned them, I had to.  They were very slow to haul away demo items.  They rarely came when they said they would and usually arrived late and left early.
For the TV enclosure they had to redo it 3 times to get it to fit in the space.  For the fridge enclosure we had them measure the specific fridge going there.  Recently we tried to put the fridge in the spot and it does not fit.  Contractor not returning calls to fix it.
The plumbing holes had to be redone as well.  The job required several contractors and Metz did not oversee it.  So the electrician would say oh this guy needs to do this; then that guy would say the electrician needs to do this.  I had to be the foreman and it was awful.  The subcontractors themselves would complain to me about the contractor they were working for that I had hired.
Lastly, when we got our final invoice he added charges for work they did not even do (paint an area).  He did remove it and finish all the work but it required so much push on our side.

This provider is 8 months into a job that should have been completed in 5 months.  The job is still incomplete (about 50%) with little or no activity taking place at this time. There was an expected delay caused by changes we made to the design, however, these changes have long been approved by the building department and we are still seeing little activity. This has been very frustrating and making what should have been an enjoyable project into a headache. At this time we do not know if or when we will ever complete this project.
