Concrete Repair
Answered a classified ad in The Villages' Daily Sun newspaper. Call was answered by Miguel Rodriguez. He offered to come by later that day to see what I needed to be done and provide a quote. He arrived on time. After assessing my requirements, he offered to schedule the work within a few days and provided a business card with the quote written on the back. I told him that I wanted to discuss with spouse before making a decision. He said "Ok, just call me when you want us to start." No pressure.
His crew arrived when promised to remove bushes and building the form. Crew was here the next day to wheelbarrow the concrete from the street to the sight. One crew member spent the next several hours finishing the concrete and removing the forms.
Along the way, I discovered that I needed to bury a rain water drain pipe to prevent erosion. I asked the laborer to do it and promised to talk to Mr. Rodriguez later about the added request.
Original quote was $450. Rodriguez said he would accept whatever I thought was fair. He left with a check for $500 and a handshake from a satisfied customer.
