My wife was cleaning the artwork and got water inside and shorted out the LED's and we need them replaced again. We made the Provider aware that this was our fault and that we would pay for the work. It has been over 5 months and they keep stringing us along. Not returning our calls, then finally came out when I stressed to them there is no discounts expected we just need to fix them and they advised they would order new LEDS and be out the next week to fix this was 2 weeks ago. Most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with.

All work was completed in a timely manner and well done. All estimates were accurate with no additional charges. I am very happy with the work done.

This is one of the biggest mistakes that I have ever made in
choosing a contractor.  I had used this company for a very small glass cutting job at their shop and they were great
only charging $5.00 for their effort. So I ask for a quote to replace the windows on the second floor of the house.
The owner came by the next day and indicated that replacement of six second story windows could be done
in one day and that it “SHOULD” be less than $ 2,000.00. He indicated that he would send someone out to get the exact measurements the following day.  The person who showed up to do the final measurements smelled of alcohol and was unable to stay on task.  He seemed more interested in seeing if I had any other work that he could do on the side than getting measurements for the replacement windows, which should have been my first clue.
I had to make repeated calls over the next two weeks to get the quote.  Normally I would have moved on to another
contractor at that point.   However I was having the roof done at the same time and needed a quick turn around on the job.
The bid came in several hundred dollars over expectation but I felt like I had made a verbal commitment so I went ahead with them.
The next surprise was a request to pay for the windows upfront and was told that it would be several weeks to get the windows from the manufacturer due to the special things I wanted on the windows.
The house has double pane colonial windows with a grid pattern.  My expectation was to have replacement windows that matched.  (See photo of bid)  My discussion during the initial meeting left me with an understanding  that the windows would match the look of the current windows and that the factory would put hurricane shatter resistant film on the inside of the windows.  This was part of the reason for the long lead time to get the windows.
When it came time to install the windows the contractor
doing the roofing and second story siding removed all three of the  front windows from the dormers in about 30
minutes without cracking a single pane of glass.  They needed to get them out of the way to
work on the siding.
The window company showed up and the problems started immediately,
the windows they had on the truck were not colonial, they were single pane sliders
with no shatter resistant film or pane dividers to match the windows on the
first floor. I was told that the film would be put on after the windows were in
place.  It turns out that the film that
got installed was just a window tint film not impact restraint film to protect
from flying debris.
 I now had windows
removed which had to be replaced for the siding contractor to finish his
job.  I was told that it would be several
weeks to get replacement windows and that I would have to cover the cost of
returning the ones on the truck and getting new ones delivered.  At this point I felt I had no choice but to
go with what was on the truck and that I had already paid for.
When they went to install the first window if became obvious
that something was very wrong.  The
windows were too small for the openings. The window frame had been measured
completely wrong. There was a 1” gap all the way around the window between the
window frame and the window opening on all sides and front to back.   The
flange on the side of the window just barely covered the opening and the
workers had to put the nails in at an angle to even get into the wood around
the window.  When I went into the house
and looked at the window from the inside I found that it was a full inch away
from the wood trim on the inside. I could see daylight around the window as it
hung in the frame.
 The first window was
hung and I later noticed that it was not level due to nothing holding it in
place other than a few nails.  The window
is still crooked and the siding people had to work around it being cockeyed to
try and make the siding look OK.
After about three hours the front windows were installed
leaving a big gap all the way around the window on the inside.  (See picture).
Then the crew moved to the back of the house.  That’s where the real mess started.  All of the windows had decretive metal
flashing around the windows to set them off from the siding.  The window crew could not figure out how to
get the windows out of the frames!  They spent
hours trying to figure it out and ended up smashing every bit of glass in the
windows out and tried to pry the frames out in pieces.  This left shattered glass both inside the
house and outside the house.  They knew
that they had to be careful and not damage the trim because it had to be
replaced when the new windows were in place.
By the time they were done all of the flashing was just one big twisted mess.
By dark they had one window tacked in place and there was so
much damage to the wood around the window that I had to go to the hardware
store and get several new pieces of wood  to replace what they had damaged.  They said that they would be back the next
day to finish the job.  After two days I had
to call and demand to know when they were coming back.  Excuses of other jobs taking precedent and
people not showing up to work flowed like water.  The next afternoon the a couple people showed
up and worked to get the windows hung in place.
Being Friday they were more interested in getting off work than working
so the job did not get finished.
I called the owner and informed him of what was transpiring and how unhappy I was with the
job.  He informed me that he would be over on Saturday to work on getting things resolved.
He showed up late Monday afternoon and put window tint on the inside of the windows. (Not factory installed shatter
resistant hurricane film) and filled the gaps around the windows with spray foam.  The gap between the window and the
inside frame was covered up with plastic molding.  This still left the outside flashing to be
completed.  The following day two people again showed up in the afternoon and tried to finish the outside trim.  One of them had been drinking and tried to get the flashing into place by beating on it with a hammer.  (See picture 2) making a mess of it in the
process. It will have to be replaced. Before leaving for the day he damaged the flashing on the last window so
badly that it could not be salvaged.
The owner finally came back the next day and put up some cheap fake wood trim around the last
window which does not match anything on the house and called the job done, one full week after they started a "one day job."
To top everything off, the south facing windows on the front of the house were not even cleaned on the outside.
At 62 years old I had to get up on an extension ladder to clean of the calking and hand prints from the outside
of the windows.
This was the most frustrating and unprofessional contractors that I have ever had the misfortune to have work for me.   I will never use this company again for anything else.
I wish I had joined Angie’s list before hiring them it could have saved me a lot of problems.  The person I have to hire to fix these
mistakes will most definitely be checked out on Angie’s List prior to getting the job.

Response from Coastal Windows & Tint

"The customer received what he choose and placed an order for. He was quoted both regular windows with applied solar film and impact window with colored glass. The impact window take about 6 - 8 weeks to be made and arrive. The customer was in a rush to get his job done and did not want to wait for impact windows. He came in and choose which option he wanted and gave us a deposited, what he ordered was on his receipt. The impact windows cost more than double the regular windows. Almost every window install we do is this type of window with solar film applied on site. We feel it is the customers best option and value. The customer was happy with our finished job when we were done, if not, why did he pay us in full and ask us to quote the windows on the first floor.i am sorry the customer had a change in his feelings. We have in business for over 27 years with hundreds of very loyal customers. Thank you titusville......."

On Friday, 8-25-12 at about 4:00PM I called and got a price quote on getting my new car tinted. He gave me the price which I thought was reasonable and told me he offered Saturday appointments. I told him to pencil me in for 1:00. I dropped my car off and he said that he would be done at 3:00. My step father like the tint idea and he stayed later that expected and did his car, also. I drove by at 2:45 and he just pulled the car out of the shop. He called me before 3 and it was ready. I am 110% satisfied with the work. My step father's car turned out just as good. He took the time and explained the wait times for tint and why you should not role down your windows. He did not say "don't roll them down". "He said you do not want to roll them down because there will be some bubbles in the tint. Since the tint is porous the bubbles will work there way out, if you roll it down before all the moisture escapes you can cause it to shift." I liked that he explained things and didn't just think it would go over my head.

The technician came to measure the panes which were cloudy.  We were informed of the time involved to order new glass.  When the glass was ready, we were called to set an appointment for installation.  They arrived on time, completed the work, cleaned up when finished, and took the damaged windows away. We could recommend them to anyone.

They did a wonderful job. I used them because I seen therir truck around here. I talked to Shawn and I think he is the manager and I didn't tell him about the report on Angie's List we told him afterwards. We told them after they finished the shower that by the way we seen on Angie's List that someone really gave you an F and we will try and write a report that we are really pleased. He told us what the circumstances were and it didn't even match the event. They did exactly what they said they were going to do.

The workmen showed up right on time.  They went straight to work after exchanging a quick, polite greeting.  They worked very hard and non-stop throughout a very hot day.  They made sure everything worked properly and explained everything to me I needed to know as fsr as shutting and locking the shutters.  The quality of the product is exceptional!!  Everyone from the boss on down was extremely professional and had a great attitude!  I think this company is the most professional  I have ever hired.  Coastal Windows and Tint, as its name implies, does way more than just top quality hurricane shutters of all kinds!!  I would highly reccomend them with the highest of regards!!!
