The plumber did not do the work. He thought it was not necessary. I did the work myself after that. The plumber would do good emergency work. That was not my circumstance. He would have needed to buy the supplies. He preferred emergency work.

All fixed. I'm back in business in the kitchen (after replacing cartridge in faucet). The faucet cartridge was under warranty and we replaced after the Mike replaced the cold water shut off valve under kitchen sink. No more black stuff coming from Hot water heater after the flexible tubes were replaced with copper.

I assumed the repair would be major, tearing into the walls or flooring, but he was able to fix it very quickly and with ease. He ended up replacing a short pipe for me in the wall, by cutting a small hole and also replacing the elbow. He was very reasonably priced. He was also efficient and knowledgeable. I plan to use him for all my plumbing needs.
