Came home to 2 dogs. Not even an explanation or a call from the owner. RUN..from this place for the safety of your pet.

She was there for a while. They seem always to have availability when we need it. In fact, we are taking her Thursday because we have a lot of family coming over for the Holiday. I have never had a time when I was not able to get a place for her, even for the holidays. They are very friendly. They have a lot of, kind of additional services and add ons that I can get for my dog. They take good care of her. She's happy when we drop her off and she's happy when we pick her up. She seems to have the kind of time that she needs.

There was a little problem, maybe with either getting him out or getting him in. The accommodations were very good for him. They had pretty spacey cages for the dog, there was a pool and everything. He seemed to be pretty happy. There was something about the difficulty in either registering him or getting him out. I can't remember which, I think it was registering. They could improve the registration process. My neighbors use The Lodge and they all like it very much because they have like a doggy daycare. They all still like it. So it has probably changed. It was new. At that point, I don't know if they had been open even a whole year yet. They've probably improved because the neighbors still take their dogs there. The price was probably in the ballpark. It wasn't cheap, but the service was good. The punctuality was pretty good. It's very convenient for us.

I was very worried about boarding my Weimaraner, as she has separation anxiety. She was kept very busy daily with no problems overnight. There is a water park for the dogs and they are closely supervised. The staff were very nice and seemed to care about the dogs boarded there. Prior to her eight days of boarding, I took her for a day of doggie day care to help familiarize her with the facility and staff. She showed no apprehension when I returned with her to board. I would highly recommend the lodge for boarding. They offer tours on the weekend. The facility is very clean.

Our toy poodle can't wait to go for his weekly play time. He loves the staff and seeing his dog pals. Usually board for a night or two, but boarded last year for 16 days. He was well cared for and made the transition back home with no problems. Grooming is also high quality and a gentle process.

My dog, Nic, is very timid and usually reacts fearfully to new situations but after a couple visits to The Lodge he would happily bound out of the car and trot toward the front door. The staff would greet him by name and he would approach them wagging, making the Lodge staff some of the few people other than me that the dog joyfully approached!
The owners and staff really tailored their care to Nic's needs and personality. When out with all the other dogs he sometimes just likes to sniff and lay around, not really jumping around much so they would pair him with quieter dogs. They have such an awesome play area with a built in pool that has gently sloping sides for ease of entry and exit, which Nic loved. The staff is so attentive they would get him out of the pool in time to prevent his bony greyhound elbows from getting raw on the concrete pool surface. If the other dogs were still to energetic for my old man they would let him hang out behind the counter rather than just put him back in his room by himself. After we had been boarding there a while they actually bought (no extra charge to me) a bed JUST for him because his long spindly legs would hang off the already top of the line beds they had!
One of the owners is a veterinarian, which gives me additional confidence in the Lodge. Basically my only fear when I drop the dog off is that he won't want to come back home because he has it so good there. It is more expensive than some other kennels but I definitely feel that we get our money's worth and am glad to have found them. We recently moved out of state and I haven't found any place that even comes close to The Lodge.

if you care about your pets, I suggest you pick another place to board them. The customer service exceeds bad. The staff at the Lodge makes TSA look like the best managed operation in the country. After a 3 day stay at the lodge, it took us over a week to get our traumatized dog back to normal. It is obvious that the minimum wage girls, who run the place, don't like pets and don't have a clue in taking care of them. The owner is greedy, unprofessionl and uncaring. The Lodge is probably the most expensive pet boarding establishment in Tampa Bay. It looks good on the surface, but it is an expensive house of horrors.

Terrible boarding facility! Not only will we not bring our beautiful dogs here again; we wouldn't bring them back if they payed us. Furthermore, we will not recommend this facility to friends and family.
At first glance the Lodge at New Tampa appears very quaint and pleasant however you may quickly realize that looks can be very deceiving. Picked our dogs up today and was told, and quot; You won't be able to bring your dogs back because they and quot;pee a lotand quot; Seriously??That's what animals do when they're inside a room all day. Point taken that we have 5 small Chihuahuas that bark a lot, however we didn't feel proper time and dedication was spent with them as promised, as this was they first time they have ever been boarded and 3 of the dogs are only 10 month old puppies. While we were away and viewed our dogs on the Video Camera inside one of their Ranch rooms, we never saw our dogs taken and provided play-time,once. This facility, in my opinion, fits the moniker A Wolf in Sheep's clothin; facility looks nice, but thats about it. Fake and Phony staff that appear to be nice, but don't follow through on promised pet experience. Don't take your pet here! A perfect example of an organization that places profits before the customer. Because The Lodge is busy and appears to be successful, they pick and choose which customer they want to do continue do business with, due to their small-business coffers currently over-flowing with cash, however persistent arrogance and a and quot;take it or leave itand quot; attitude may eventually catch up to them and lead to their demise. Although The Lodge at New Tampa reserves the right to do business with whom ever they choose, promising playtime for your animals and not following through on that promise, and then complaining that they and quot;pee a lotand quot; is unacceptable. Maybe as an experiment, they should stick one of their employees in a room all-day and and see if they don't and quot;pee a lotand quot; in their precious little rooms. Your dog is worth so much more than to leave them at this phony facility!. Look around and do your research first.

It's a beautiful place, with an outdoor facility and a pool. It's well run and is a great place for your dog. The boarding is a little expensive, but worth the place. I like their services and will use the same in future.

Animal Boarding Kennels
I toured The Lodge before my first visit. It is a beautiful, safe and well laid out facility. I was impressed by the layout and the use of top of the line materials. However, I was boarding a puppy who got sick after his first stay (this is NOT a problem as it will happen in the best of kennels). I suppose it's possible that he didn't get it there, but my vet said he caught it at The Lodge, so I that is how I will report it.
My check-in for the second stay was only a little eventful - I needed him to complete his pills (1 pill 2 times a day) from the illness - we were charged $6/day. I thought that the owner's daughter might be conciliatory on this given the circumstances, but she said no. I also asked that she add a recommendation on a vaccination on the web site. She also said no. She also said my puppy didn't get sick there. The rest of the checkin was uneventful.
On pickup, the owner met me, yelled at me for approximately 10 minutes about 1) my puppy didn't get sick there, 2) my vet didn't know what he was talking about, 3) I was outrageous for asking for the pills for free 4) I think I was also yelled at for making his daughter uncomfortable, but I'm not sure and 5) I was finally yelled at for what could only be an attempt to be vicious - my puppy was a and quot;filthyand quot; dog because he didn't and quot;getand quot; that he was supposed to go on their astroturf and so relieved himself in the kennel run making a mess. He would never be a show dog because of this.
So, I give this kennel an F:
- They are expensive: On top of the payment for the pills, they charged me $2 a day to give my food that I brought with me - not a special diet - just some dry and 1/2 a can 2 times a day. They wanted to add another $3 to sprinkle vitamins over the canned. I would have been paying $14 a day for feeding when I brought my own food.
- They're not very understanding for a puppy who might not figure out *their* routine and their facility
- I don't EVER expect to be yelled at unless I were to start it first. Even then, a business that sets customer service as a goal doesn't do this sort of thing. This is unreal that I was treated this way and nothing this man did was in any way indicative of customer service attitude
- to then digress into a diatribe of lecture about whether my vet is competent (he is and is *very* well respected in our community) and whether someone else's dog will be a show dog is indicative of someone who is totally out of line.
- I have no complaint what-so-ever with the care of my puppy - as far as I could tell, he was a happy camper.
I would not board here if it were the last place on earth - no one deserves to be treated the way I was.

The Lodge at New Tampa had plenty of room for my dog to run around and get excersise. They had also had a pool that he could swim in if he felt like it. It is a family run place and they do excellent work. I thought the facilities were very nice.
