-The river rock selected is too large for the application. This type of rock is typically used as accent with a smaller more manageable rock as fill. The rock looks as if it was dumped and barely leveled and at the paver area the rock grade is ABOVE the patio pavers (which means the rock constantly spills over onto the pave stones). I don't know about your 74-year-old Mother, but mine shouldn't be sweeping large rocks off her patio every day;
-No provision was offered for walking through the poorly graded, uneven, oversized rocks. Anyone wanting to access other areas of the backyard need to navigate (not easily) through this mess. I wouldn't deem it treacherous; but honestly, I'm afraid one or both of my parents will trip (it's that uneven). Random stepping stones would be my suggestion, but I don't call myself a 'landscape designer';
-Supposedly, weed barrier was installed; however, the area is already weedy just a couple of months later which leads me to suspect an improper installation of barrier;
-The 'edging stones' are insufficient for the scope and size of the project (a mere 4and quot; tall?!) and clearly should have been a heftier more substantial edging that would withstand the weight and size of the rock and sod;
-The installation of the tree is adequate; however, the heavy river rock was pushed right up against it. No irrigation was provided for this tree and by late August it was losing leaves.
Having seen this horrible installation and feeling that my elderly parents had been totally taken advantage of; I contacted the owner today. Mr. Newman did not bother to return my phone call. Instead, I was contacted by his 'designer', Scott Weaver, who informed me that the project was perfect and my Mother happily paid him at it's conclusion. Not only would I not recommend this company, I strongly suspect that they happily take advantage of those who don't know any better. I'm ridden with guilt that I couldn't be here to protect them; and, now we face the burden of fixing the problems on our own. Not what one would expect for over $4500!
