Gulf Bay Painting

Mark and his assistant arrived a few minutes early and very kind enough to take off their shoes when coming inside. They looked around and started prepping. Everything seemed like it would go great because Mark was very insistent that he and his assistant make sure to leave everything perfect and "better than when they arrive." I'm all for that. I'm also all for attention to detail, which he clearly has an eye for. But that's where i started having a problem. He started looking around at the way the rest of the house was painted and pretty much said it was shoddy work. It looked great to me but apparently it was all wrong. He also decided that he didn't like my kitchen backsplash and said he would have picked something else. I didn't remember asking for his opinion on that... It continued like this for a while. He was non-stop harassing his assistant the entire time. I was in the living room and all i kept hearing the entire time was "Hey!!! listen, just because i'm not with you all the time doesn't mean you can do whatever you want when i'm not around. You have to do it right. You hear me? You have to do it right!" Sounds great, but hearing this yelled at someone all day in a condescending tone gets old fast. It literally was nonstop commentary the entire time. I have to admit, this guy knows how to paint though. He's fast, clean, precise, and was in and out in a few hours. It would have taken me 2 days to get that room done. He did an impeccable job. And he put everything back exactly as it was. The price was definitely high compared to other places but he really knows his stuff and is worth the money. Will i hire him again? Probably. It all depends on whether or not i'm in the mood to hear him nag his assistant all day. In my world, that sort of "correction" is best done in private or in a whisper. Not loudly and repeatedly in front of customers. And you should never insult the home of clients, EVER, no matter how small or constructive the criticism. Maybe if i had asked what he thought. But now i'm just paranoid about how everything else looks.
