About us

The Overhead Door Company of Tampa Bay was established in 1951 and is Tampa's oldest and most trusted garage door company. We are not a franchise but a "Red Ribbon" distributor for The Overhead Door Corporation. As a family owned company, we are proud to be a part of the Tampa Bay family. Bob and his family have owned The Overhead Door Company of Tampa Bay since 1992 and also own The Overhead Door Company of the Capital City in Tallahassee. The Overhead Door Company of Tampa Bay is a full-line garage door company servicing residential, commercial, and industrial garage doors and gates. All of our work is performed by our own technicians who have been background checked. We do not use subcontractors and you will know who will be at your home before they arrive. Our company is very involved in the Tampa Bay community with charities such as Metropolitan Ministries, Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Hope Children's Home, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

I had Mike come out last week to provide a quote for a complete garage door and hardware replacement. He gave me a verbal estimate and promised to send something via email by Friday. When Friday came and went with no email, I reached out on Saturday but received no response. On Monday, I called the office and was finally transferred to him. His reply was disheartening; he said that since I mentioned I was getting multiple quotes, I wasn't his priority and effectively told me to go with other companies before hanging up. I called back and spoke to the manager, who said he would address this with Mike, but I still haven’t heard anything back. I’m extremely disappointed, especially with the recent storm damage in my area—I doubt they’ll care. I would recommend steering clear of this business. Genie of Clearwater and Precision Garage Door are far more professional, even if they are pricier; it might save you from a lot of frustration.

Technician came out the day after my call; on time. Repairs were completed within 45 minutes, and the door now works properly. He did not attempt to sell additional products or services, which I appreciated, but he did provide useful information on the opener system. He did not wear a mask, however, when he came to my door.

Wonderfully! Highly professional technician arrived and did not try to sell me a new motor but rather did what I needed! This company goes above and beyond. They forward a photo of the technician who is coming to your home - a great safety feature for a home owner - coupled with his history with their company! They do a criminal background check of all their technicians. I would definitely use t hem again for any garage door needs I have.

Came right on time everything works great. The opener does not come with any bulbs. They did put 1 courtesy bulb ( 2 sockets available). I would have rather had the offer of paying for the second bulb rather than a trip to Lowes to buy the second and get a ladder to put it in. Speaking of that ladder save it to start the New myQ technology. It requires you to climb up to the motor to press buttons to connect to the internet ( after a 15 min on hold with liftmaster 8550 support) Instructions are not on the web site. (Would suggest having customer set up account with liftmaster using serial number so it is ready when install is finished. Then technician could do the wifi hookup like they do for the wall plate code. Love the motion sensor to turn on the light when I enter the garage. Haven't tried the internet or app yet-waiting for my ladder.
