The Comfort Authority

Our experience with everyone at Comfort Authority was fantastic! From their sales staff, technicians-onsite & over the phone and their administration personnel treated us like they were their only client! We can't say enough about their professionalism, the quality of work they did nor their prompt replies to the questions/concerns we had. We highly recommend Comfort Authority to anyone in need of AC/Heat work.

The guys were very professional. We hired them to do new heating and air condition unit. Once installed they discovered a flaw in our vents and duct work. They quickly made another appointment for us and spent 2 days in the attic re working all the vents and ducts. They kept us informed throughout the process explaining to us in terms we could understand. I would hire these guys again in a minute. Peter, Mike, Shaun and Eduardo were 5 stars all the way.

AC Tech Derek came out to diagnose and repair outside AC Unit. He was able to quickly find the issue had the part needed on hand and was able to repair in a very timely manner. Price was fair for service provided. We were very happy with the service provided and will use The Comfort Authority again as well as recommend to family and friends.

After reviewing the error logs, Peter called the manufacturer for the needed replacement board for indoor air handler. The board was not available today. A new air handler with the needed part was available. Comfort Authority ordered the new air handler and had it in my garage in an hour. Amazing decision. An hour later all was cool and back to normal.

These guys know their stuff. 3 years ago I hired someone on a recommendation to install a new system and it just never really worked right. After 2 companies could never find any issues I went looking for the best rated HVAC company and all site listed the Comfort Authority as number 1. Started with a service to make sure the AC system was in good shape, and it was. Then they had someone come out to make sure the ducting that was replaced by the prior owner was sized correctly, and it was. Yesterday Peter came out and found duct work that was not right and he fixed it! Finally we have a comfortable home! These guys took the time to look at everything, they explained everything in detail and answered every question. We are so happy we now have a contract with them for all our VAC needed.

As usually happen in Florida, we neglected our AC until it decided to quit on the first really hot day of the year. We take AC for granted, so surviving 85+ degrees over night is painful. We had used The Comfort Authority previously for yearly maintenance and called them this year as soon as the AC quit working. One of the things that has really impressed me about this company is their communication; We were given a reasonable time window and as soon as they were dispatched we received a text to let us know they were on their way. Peter and Steve arrived early in our window, assessed the issue (which required going into the hot attic, of course), and got us back up and running very quickly. Before they entered our house they covered their shoes, they laid out a drop cloth before opening the scuttle hole to the attic, and made sure everything was super clean when done. Peter and Steve are both very professional, knowledgable, and personable. This is not the first time we’ve used them, and it will definitely not be the last — and we would recommend them highly to anyone.

We have had our Payne AC for 27 years. Started a maintenance plan with "The Comfort Authority" a year ago. Over the years, we normally kept our internal air around 72 degrees with 56 percent humidity. It continued to work just fine. But after our last servicing, TJ recommended we start shopping for a new AC system. He naturally recommended his company and more specifically, an 'Inverter AC System'. Asked him to provide a quote. Along with the quote, we received a phone call from the owner of Comfort Authority, Steve Cox. He was very positive and confident about his being the best company with the best people. After quotes from 2 other AC companies, and more research on the products recommended by all 3 companies, I decided on the Inverter AC technology. Went back to The Comfort Authority and closed the deal for a new SEER 17+, 5 ton Inverter System with Air Handler in the attic and compressor outside. As far as I could gather, the inverter system worked with a variable compressor motor that housed a master controller that communicated with the air handler controller and thermostat. The speed of the motor was regulated by data received from the indoor/outdoor sensors of the air handler and thermostat. The purpose being more efficient and scalable cooling and heating with less loss of energy. The decision to choose The Comfort Authority was based on pricing, equipment, and convincing assurances that the installers were skilled and reliable professionals. The Inverter AC System, manufactured and branded by Daiken for the Comfort Authority was installed yesterday by Peter, Marshall, Austin, and Freddie. They called to say they were on their way to make our 9:00 am appointment. They arrived at 8:50am. After introducing himself and all the other members of the team, Peter went over every listed item in the order, ensuring we had an understanding and agreement before the work was started. I sign the acknowledgements. They got started. In addition to removing the old system and bringing in the new, they installed a new pad for the compressor, replaced the grates on the return air risers, crawled through the attic and Mastek sealed the existing flex ducting and air handler, added electric surge suppressors for the air handler and compressor, whole house filter with new plenum to maximize coverage with new air handler, soldered copper tubing and insulated piping, zip tied the wiring, installed a new thermostat with a new app for my mobile phone, along with a good lesson on its use. Even though it started raining real hard, it didn't slow them down a bit. They opened a portable tarp to cover the outside installation. All the work is best described as team work. Everyone helping each other get their work done. The work was done well and on time. After sweeping and removing all debris from the attic, garage, and outside work areas, they left us with an amazing AC system. Our normal comfort level is now 2 degrees higher, 74F, and 10 degrees lower humidity, 46. What an amazingly comfortable and cost saving experience.

It went great! This was one of the best experiences dealing with a contractor that I have every had. Every person that we were in contact with and had conversations with at Comfort Authority went out of their way to explain everything and do an outstanding job. Prices were simply laid out and the choice was totally ours with no prompting or pushing. When we had an issue a week after install, which happened to be Thanksgiving Day, our call was promptly returned and a service was at our home a short while later. I'd like to say that the problem was caused by a very interesting set up of our drain line and was no fault of the Comfort Authority, I have every expectation that if I have questions or concerns that I will get an immediate response from these pros.

Could not be happier. The system has never worked this well since 1985 (when the original HVAC system was installed)....

I just had my first service for routine maintenance on two units at my home from the Comfort Authority. To say James was professional, polite, clean, punctual, and thorough, would be an understatement. He fully explained what he would be doing and gave me an estimate of how long it would take him. He took apart both outdoor units and thoroughly inspected and cleaned them. One of my inside handlers is in a bit of a tight space, and I've had other companies in the past refuse to look at it, or do a minimal job. James had no problem getting in there and he did what needed to be done with no complaint or attitude. When finished, he provided before and after pictures of the work he had done. Pretty cool! After reading reviews here on Yelp, as well as Angie's List etc. I decided to give this company a try. It was by far the best experience I've received from an air conditioning company. I signed up for their yearly comfort plan, making my next visit more affordable and the piece of mind that if something goes wrong in the future, they will provide me with priority service. Great concept, great company!

We read the positive reviews of the company and decided to have them do the work, although their quote was higher. The real test came after they began the work, when they encountered a couple of unanticipated problems. The completed project ended up taking 5 days instead of the 3 they had originally anticipated. From Steve and James at the top through Peter, Will and Shawn, who did the hard removal and installation work, we cannot overstate our satisfaction with this company and its personnel. It was not only to our satisfaction that the work was done in a professional manner but it was a pleasure to have these people in our home. They are a standout company and it was a standout experience having them do the work.

These guys are amazing I've never written any reviews for any companies prior to meeting The Comfort Authority but now find myself seeking out every single forum that I possibly can to give these guys their due. Through all of my research and I did a ton I found out that when it comes to ac it's very little about the actual unit and almost all about the contractor and these are the guys you want extreme attention to detail they actually spent hours on our intail vist just coming up with a plan to make my home ac as efficient as possible and didn't just look at the old units and shoot me a price. As far as the price there were a few quotes that had come in cheaper but for what you get from the comfort authority it's a steal to me it's Florida your ac next to the roof is the most important part of your home comfort and these guys bring a passion for their work that can't be overlooked in a business where a lot of people just go through the motions. Also there customer service just absolutely puts them over the top everyone from Geri and Kalyn who helped me with financing and answered all my qoutions along with setting up my appointments calling me in advance for reminders etc to Peter and the install team who worked on the installation for about 11 hours straight without taking a break yet were extremely polite and cleaned up better than it was when they got there I literally saw one of the guys on his hands and knees picking up even the tiniest pices of drywall from the carpet then vacuuming. To James one of the owners who was the first one to come out and the last one for a quality check they don't get any better than this guy when I finally made the decision to go with The Comfort Authority it was all about james the things he pointed out the way he explained them it was as if hadn't already talked to 7 other companies at all. I highly recommend The Comfort Authority do yourself a favor if you in the market at the very least give this company a call and give them an opportunity to gain your business you won't be sorry. An absolute rarity!! Like a mythical unicorn, I couldn't believe that we actually found an Honest and Professional Air-Conditioning company that made us feel as thought they cared about us more than making a profit!! This company truly breaks out of the herd of unscrupulous Air-Conditioning companies!! The Manager, Peter, guided a professional team of technicians made up of Adrian and Shawn. From the very professional work-van to the quality time this team took, we can't help but sing their praises. These gentlemen made it clear from the start that they were not in a hurry to get to other work, but wanted to make sure our installation was perfection. We overheard the gentlemen talking several times, making sure to avoid "short-cuts" and ensuring the best work was accomplished. Midway through our new installation, and again prior to the end of the installation, the Co-owner James arrived and checked in with the gentlemen, providing encouragement and even helping out. I could go on and on, but from the office staff (Kaylin), coupled with Peter's (Manager) leadership of his 2 highly motivated and professional technicians, Adrian and Shawn, James Thornsby and Steve Cox have assembled an unbelievably professional and exceptional team! Reasonably priced, full of Integrity and Honesty, if you don't choose Comfort Authority at the start, you'll either end up with them, or kick yourself for not choosing them! Other than washing my dog, I really can't really of anything else these guys could have done to make me love them any more. Their service, support, and professionalism was perfect. And since you don't know me, random Angie's List subscriber, let me draw you a picture. I run somewhere between an unmitigated misanthrope and your everyday, run-of-the-mill pessimist. And for good reason, mind you. I do a little real estate investing, fix-and-flip houses and own rental property. So I've had to deal with every type of trades guys you can think of. I've hired 'em. I've fired 'em. I've been screwed by 'em. And I've even sued 'em. So, when I say these guys were stellar, I'm really saying something here. From my initial contact with the office staff, to the onsite evaluation (by James Thornsberry- a mechanical engineer), to the install techs (Peter & Shawn), to the onsite visit during the system swap by Steve (owner), to the online appointment confirmation & billing systems they use, to the follow-up call and visit, they exceeded all my expectations. Every other A/C company outta just shut their doors and go do something else.

I was immediately impressed with James and Steve's professionalism right from the initial proposal. I expressed my concerns about allergies and ongoing related health issues and told them that I wanted three quotes. One to clean the condenser coils and clean the ducts, one to replace as little as necessary, and one to replace the entire system.
The first thing they did was check the integrity of my duct work. I had expressed concern that my duct work was a combination of old metal tube duct work that I suspected may sweat in the Florida heat and humidity. One of them climbed into the attic with a thermal camera while the other stayed inside with me showing me the results on an IPad. The places where cool air was leaking into the attic and hot air leaking into the house were made evident.
They then took pictures of the inside of my condenser unit to show me. Poor duct sealing from the previous owner had allowed loose insulation to get sucked into the condenser coils. This was not only corroding them, but it allowed mold to grow.
True to my request they still gave me three quotes, although after I had seen everything I already knew I was going to go with complete replacement.
Why did I choose them above others? I was impressed with their knowledge. Many other quotes had just suggested a replacement and re-work of the existing duct work. James and Steve measured every room, calculated the volume, and worked out what size of duct and where the ducts should be placed for the best performance. My previous ducts were placed very poorly due to additions to the home over the years, and there weren't enough returns to keep the air circulated properly. Steve and James explained all of this thoroughly to me and showed me examples that I could see. I could see that they were not just upselling. The points they asserted made sense and I could see the logic of it. They didn't high pressure upsell. They just laid out all the facts.
In addition to their professionalism they are both very friendly. I worked from home to keep an eye on the installation (not that I felt I had to - I was just curious about what was involved - I took lots of pictures) They stayed very busy, working into the night when it was ok with us, and didn't mind my poking my nose in out of curiosity.
On a particularly hot weekend they wanted to work all day and late into the night in order to get the job done within deadline. We had spoken previously about my family having Disney passes. For the convenience of their being able to work into the night when it was cooler, and our convenience of not being in the heat for the weekend, they put us up in a hotel near Disney! They said it was well worth it and in both of our interests.
If you go through some of the pictures I've posted you can see the meticulous craftsmanship of their work. All ducts were cut well, sealed with tape, and with mastic. The newly positioned vents and returns were sealed up tight. They even showed me after videos on the thermal camera. The new coils were of course much cleaner and the condenser and fan were much quieter.  
My house not only feels cooler now, but the humidity is controlled, and it feels and smells cleaner!

By far one of the most professional HVAC contractors I have ever worked with.  The company arrived inside of the allocated time and called approximately 30 mins prior to arrival.  The technician, James, was very professional, knowledgeable and thorough.  He took pictures and explained every item in detail.  We've had on-going problems with this unit and I feel like he was the first person to spend the time to figure out the issues.  He left tiered estimates for repair.  He even entertained the little one while I was working on something.

James was a professional in every way: dress, demeanor, equipment, and experience. After conducting a once over of the entire HVAC system, James began with a thorough cleaning of the condenser unit, removing leaves and debris before spraying the coils and housing with a cleaner which left the unit looking new. He evaluated the electrical parts for wear, and with a complicated device of meters and gauges ensured the unit was cooling and operating properly. James then proceed to the attic, and removed the access panels on the air handler to inspect the interior. He pointed out considerable dust buildup on the blower, which suggests an imbalance in air flow between the ducts and the returns. Excessive buildup of dust was also observed in the fiber ductwork. With an infrared camera he then demonstrated the numerous areas along the duct runs where leakage was occurring: at taped seams, at holes in the ductwork, etc.

Once his system maintenance and evaluation was complete, we sat while he prepared an estimate for repair or replacement of the ductwork, providing 4 options according to my budget. I chose an option, and we scheduled another visit during which he'll conduct an airflow and heat load study room by room to allow the optimal design of the ductwork and vents. Soon thereafter, the actual replacement will occur.

I have absolute confidence in The Comfort Authority, in terms of both their competitive price and ability, and recommend their use.

James was great! He went over everything, showing me each step of the way and clearly explaining the problems I had been having. He also discussed the options I could get, as well as the options I did not need. The AC is running very well and we're considering getting some of the upgrades we discussed. Would definitely use again!

They are hardworking and nice guys to have around. it seems as though they will spend as much time as is needed to get the job done. We highly recommend them.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the services provided by the Comfort Authority. Steve was so thorough and spent a good portion of the morning checking every nook and cranny of our air conditioning unit. He was kind and detailed and even swept up the little insulation that had come from our attic into the kitchen. He gave us suggestions for care and maintenance, but was not at all overbearing, nor did we get the impression he was trying to sell us more than necessary. We highly recommend their services!

Scheduled basic cleaning and inspection. Jimmy and Steve, the owners of the company, provided the service. Wonderful people. Very thorough and professional. Performed walk through of the house checking all vents for airflow and temperature using a infrared device. I could actually see the output through a app on a tablet. Also took apart and cleaned and tested the outdoor unit. Did the same thing with the indoor air handler. Installed a start assist and surge protector after explaining benefit of these additions. Felt very comfortable with the service they provided and insight they shared. Would recommend and these will be my "go to" AC people in the future.
