Then he wanted to charge for a low voltage permit even though I was installing the wiring for the telephone, data and cable myself. Fausto explained that that the electrical inspector would have to inspect the wiring. I contacted the Chief Electrical Inspector of Hillsborough County and he confirmed that a low voltage permit was not required and that the low voltage wiring would not be inspected.
Then the A/C cutoff switch was installed in the hallway instead of where it would be customarily installed, in the A/C closet. Fausto said that he had to install the switch in the hall as that was code - he did not want to move it. I contacted the chief inspector again and he said that having the switch in the A/C closet was not a problem, but now we are stuck with the switch in the hallway that I will now have to pay to get it installed in the closet. I'm getting estimates now to move the switch.
I purchased 2 light fixtures for the closets, however Fausto said he couldn't use mine as they were not to code. I happen to be at the house when the electrical inspector came by the house for an inspection and decided to ask him about my two fixtures for use in the closets - he said they were fine and meet code. So I ended up paying for Fausto's fixtures when mine were just fine.
Lastly, and there were other items, he installed new wiring for three lamp posts. During the install, he ran conduit through some overgrown ferns about were 3' high. When I removed the ferns, the conduit was over a foot over the ground. I e-mailed Fausto the photos of the conduit stating that I didn't think that was his intention, that is, to install the conduit above the ground. I assumed he would correct the problem but he never responded; very disappointed with Fausto, again. Now I have to correct his work again. I gave Fausto a low professional rating for not having the courtesy to respond to my e-mail.
