We are thrilled with what Southern Sound did for us! Our only regret is that we did not do it sooner. We knew we were missing music in our lanai and that we lacked proper surround sound for our lanai television. What a difference! The service was professional, timely and they planned then executed follow up to make sure we were happy with our new system. We love having one controller that can work for one, several or all zones within the home.

Went to Southern Transit Repair after another antique repair business (on Angie's list) stated the chair could not be repaired. I really had no other choice in my area. STR stated it would take 2 to 3 weeks to complete job. I was surprised when called one day later and chair was ready. Of additional interest: another chair needing glue in different location on chair was readily accepted by the other antique repair business. So I ended up with one chair at STR and one at another establishment at less than 1/3 the price STR charged. I do not know the quality of the repair. No one has used the chair yet.

"I am disappointed to see your rating for our services and pricing. As you indicated in your review the repair STR,INC. performed for you was already deemed non repairable by another firm. We handle all types of repairs, refinishing and restoration, some of those being a little more challenging than others. Therefore once we view an item and give you an estimate for that service ,as the customer, you have the right to choose to accept or decline services. I show you brought the chair to our facility on 04/28/14 and authorized the pricing. Our office contacted you on 05/01/14 to indicate repairs had been completed due to at time of drop off you indicated you would like to have done as soon as possible. You picked up the chair from our facility on 05/05/14 @ 9:35 AM and signed for satisfactory services. I do wish if you had any concerns that we would have been given the opportunity to address those with you at the time you authorized the repair cost. The name, Southern Transit, doesn't bring to mind a capable restoration firm. But it turns out they are the primary restoration company for many moving / transportation companies (think about those movers who drop or dent a piece of furniture ... someone needs to be able to repair it). These folks were terrific.
Our piece was a very old, sentimental porch swing, badly in need of a complete refinishing and with several rotted pieces. STransit re-made several sections from scratch out of oak. You can't tell which parts they made and which parts they kept from the original. The staining was done to our specifications and turned out perfectly. They also weather-proofed it with high-grade UV varnish (Sikkens) and replaced all the hardware with new stainless hardware (we hadn't requested that ... they just did it to be thorough).
The front office staff is as kind, friendly, yet efficient as there are.
The cost was estimated up front. I.e. we knew what it would cost before committing to the project. So from our perspective, the cost was exactly what we knew it to be and within our budget. The way they estimate costs is neat ... you just send in pictures of your project and they give you an estimate via email. Then when you take in the piece (or they will pick it up if you want), they verify that initial estimate before you commit to anything.
