I have used Sew Fast multiple times since it is close to my office. They have hemmed pants, jeans (and preserved the original hem), replaced straps on a custom made Tinker Bell costume, and this most recent dress alteration. They are definitely not the cheapest place in town, but they have done alterations precisely and with quick turn around (even hemmed a pair of jeans in a few hours before I left on vacation). I was amazed at the ease are which they altered my daughter's dress. It was not a minor alteration, but they made it seem like it. The finished result was absolutely beautiful.

I've used this place a few times and have had mixed results. The first few times, the alterations turned out great and were ready when I came to pick them up. However, The last two times I went to pick up my alterations, they hadn't even started them when I came to pick them up so the jobs were obviously rushed as I waited. I didn't have time to thoroughly inspect our items since it was closing time and we were rushed) but The dress I had a new zipper put in wasn't fixed correctly (it wasn't completely sewn at the bottom so there was a hole you could see the slip underneath) so I had to take it to another tailor. A lot of my friends swear by this place so maybe I've just had uncharacteristic experiences....

They are close to my work so I stopped by to see if they could hem my new cotton summer dress and shorten the straps. The price was RIDICULOUS. $45 for a 2-inch hem and shortening the straps 1-inch. This was a cheap COTTON off the rack summer dress with no underlining or anything. The straps were also cotton. I turned around and walked back out.

The service was excellent and efficient. I did not spend too much time there. My time is valuable.
The price could be a little better, but it was still done very well and you could tell that they knew what they were doing.

The store is well appointed as are the dressing rooms. The person who greeted me was friendly. Dresses were tried on and person pinned as needed. Did not ask about prices beforehand. When ticket written up was shocked at prices (hem up was $35 compared to Nordstrom's $12.84 for dresses bought there). I asked about discounts. There are none as the woman is apparently sub-contracted with the business. When arrived for pick-up, which was earlier than expected (was called the dresses were ready), found that the lingerie straps had not been done and the pricing was higher than my original ticket. I had not been told of the additional charge. Apparently work that I do not remember having been pinned for was done but no one notified me before doing the work or adjusting the price. In the end I had to wait for the straps to be done, I asked about the additional charge and in the end the additional $30 for minor seaming was taken off ticket - otherwise would have been $167 plus tax. $30 is the charge for the side seams of the empire waist dresses which seemed to me to be a high price. Had I a sewing machine I know I could have done the side seams of the dresses. I think that the prices are high and are much higher than the first class alterations of the lady I once hired for alterations.
Due to the cost and distance I might not make a trip to South Tampa for further alterations. Much too costly for the work that was done. I do not know how much the person who actually performs the work receives from the amount charged. I will likely continue to search for an alteration person much more convenient in distance and better pricing.
Otherwise no other issues. The person who performed the work is very pleasant and seemed to have good knowledge of sewing.

The sports coat that I bought didn't fit as well as I liked, so I needed it tailored. They were able to make it fit correctly. Time was not an issue, as it was not an emergency, and it took 1 week. I was very happy with the service that they provided, and they are open late (7 pm) so it was convenient. I will definitely use them in the future.

They have been in business a long time and are very experienced. They are very competent tailors. I have used them for 15-20 years.

I've used Sew Fast before. They are definitely pricy - BUT the quality of their work was very high. On July 20, 2010 I went in with 2 new suits I had bought without my wife to judge the fit, because I thought they needed tailoring. The gentleman taking measurements assured of two things: 1) He would be very happy to take my money, BUT 2) He saw absolutely nothing that needed to be done. Honesty and pure professionalism. A++++++++

I was immediately scared, as it was obvious he has very limited knowledge of the trade. He had no idea how to do anything beyond simple alterations and is not very skilled with more expensive suits. I have had custom suits made in NY and Hong Kong. He is probably the worst tailor I have ever worked with. It cost me $100.00 to have his work undone and corrected. There was an article in a south Tampa magazine about his superior skills and sense of style. The suits he is selling there are at least three to five seasons behind the current trends and he has limited skills in altering the clothes. I would advise you stay away from him for any valuable possession. He may be able to take in a waist or add cuffs to a pair of pants. He is not skilled enough to trust with removing shoulder rolls, adding full breaks to pants, tapering trouser legs or adding functioning buttonholes to the sleeve of a suit. I am having my clothes tailored elsewhere.

I brought my dress in well in advance to have alterations done, but there was no need. They had me come back much closer to the wedding and they took very good care of me. I was happy with the result and they were very nice. My only complaint was that it's very hot in their store and it makes you uncomfortable when trying on clothing.

THE ALTERATIONS WERE DONE VERY WELL, BUT THEY WERE VERY EXPENSIVE. SHAME ON ME FOR NOT CONFIRMING THE PRICE IN ADVANCE, BUT I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A WHOLE NEW DRESS FOR THE COST! ALSO, I HAD TO GO BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET IT COMPLETE, AS THEY DID IT IN PHASES. THIS ENSURED IT WAS DONE ACCURATELY, BUT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE MOST EFFICIENT METHOD.
