Robert H Delafield, Inc.

Delafield and his employees are meticulous, professional, reliable, and a pleasure to have on site. They renovated a bathroom for me a few years ago entirely to my satisfaction (and I am an exacting customer), and I have used them exclusively for home repairs and renovations ever since. Delafield Construction has only a small number of employees so it can be difficult to get on their calendar, but they are worth the wait. I recommend them without reservation.

He arrived promptly at our scheduled meeting time, but was not overly helpful during the meeting. He did not offer up any information other than questions we asked him, and as we are not in the construction industry, we were unaware of many things that he should have addressed. We did not feel he was enthusiastic to earn our business, and even though he said he would prepare an estimate to get to us within two weeks, we never heard from him again. I did not follow up, as we would not have felt comfortable hiring him anyway.

Robert and Heather Delafield are a pleasure to work with, very responsive with our needs and time frames.  We have called them on several occasions for work needed, and if they were unable to complete it within the time frame that was needed ( moving), they suggested someone who could help us, which turned out wonderfully!  I would definately suggest them to all of our friends and family.

This is the second project Robert has completed for me. He and his wife handled all the details and made remodeling my kitchen totally stress free.  They protected my hardwood floors and put up plastic barriers to protect items and furniture in adjoining rooms. His wife, Heather, supplied websites for me to find cabinet hardware and a list of granite suppliers. her assistance in this process was invaluable. And when the project was finished they had cleaners come in and thoroughly clean. It is spotless.  I also know that things were done right and according to code. I will continue to use their services in the future. They rock!

It went well and on time..

We love Robert and he does a fabulous job. He has a great reputation and is very honest and reliable.

Complete gut and remodel if our beach condominium totaling 3000 square feet.  He was excellent at solving field problems, had amazing sub contractors and was great with the municipalities. 

Additionally we were working on a large renovation of our home that was started before I knew Robert. The job was not progressing and was riddled with issues the former contractor, working on the job, could not solve. Robert stepped in and completed a difficult job - he saved the day as we needed to move back in our house because the school year was restarting.

Excellent work from start to finish both times, Picked Excellent subcontracting too,and all of the company employees and subs employees were courteous, respectful and honest.

I felt that I would use him.  He was a very good guy.  He was very detailed oriented.  He was a very conscientious worker.  He is a very honest guy and I will recommend him.

Everything went as well as it could have especially given that we have a 100 year old very large home  - with a lesser quality or less smart contractor, we would have likely had numerous problems. Because of Robert's integrity, knowledge, perfectionism,  and attention to detail, things went remarkably smoothly and we were spared a great deal of anguish.

He is extremely honest and he is up-front. He tells you everything in advance so you don't have surprises. His costs may seem high but they're really not because of the fact that he tells you everything. That is unlike some other contractors who start a job and don't tell you everything that is going to be involved. You think you're getting a deal and then they all of a sudden say, "It's going to cost extra for this." He doesn't do that. He has top quality people. He is very conscientious. If there is a problem he is there right away to solve it. You can reach him almost any time, even on the weekends in there is some kind of an emergency. The craftsmanship and quality of the work is excellent. He is very professional and he is very good. He talks to you and explains everything. He explains the reasons behind everything.

I had extensive repair work that needed to be done on my pool and patio. The pool and patio were originally installed in the mid '70s. Robert Delafield came highly recommended from friends who have used him for their projects. His crew removed the concrete deck and waterline tile from the swimming pool. After that, they revised the pool area drainage and slope to manage rainwater. The original patio was built in such a way that heavy rain would cause the patio to flood back toward the house instead of away from the house. The new design for the slope and drainage completely eliminated the flooding problems that I had experienced over the years. They installed the new pool tile, coping, pavers and re-finished the swimming pool. The pool is beautiful and I couldn't be more happy with both the visual impact and the quality of the work.

I have been using him for over 15 years. He is very reliable and bright. He does the work extremely well and has been the best person that I have ever worked with. He does not do the work himself but, has the best people working for him.
