RC replaced my downstairs HVAC system after the Hurricanes/flooding in 2024. It was a massive job, including ductwork, air handler, condenser unit, new returns & storm platforms. We went with a high-efficiency Lennox system. These guys went above & beyond. The new system is hung from the floor joists in the crawl space, eliminating the need for sharp turns which puts a lot of drag on the system. They elevated both of my outside condenser units on new hurricane platforms, they installed a high-capacity soft start that I purchased online, and they made sure everything was properly fitted & functioning. This system is so good, we can get the house from 80 degrees down to 70 in less than 20 minutes & our downstairs is about 2,000sqft with 16ft ceilings in the living room. They’ve been out twice now to double check that everything is still working properly. They’ve replaced a breaker and my Lennox control panel for minor issues (bugs) that are expected with a new system of this size. All & all we are very pleased. If your comfort is important & you value quality, I would recommend. They probably aren’t the cheapest, which is fine. You get what you pay for.

On a service contract which includes a spring and fall system cleaning. Overall, a pleasing client experience. Received the courtesy call 30-minutes before the technician arrived. Perfect. Technician arrived and announced himself and explained the work. He started and completed the work efficiently. After completing the heat pump work and while working on the air handler, he also cleaned out the air handler water drain. When done, he announced and explained the overall condition of the heat pump and air handling system. Normally, the invoice for a service contract visit is clear. However, the tech suggested a "Hard Start Kit for A/C / Heat Pump Unit"/start-up capacitor. This would be a separate service item with its own part and labor charges as it does when you take your car to dealership for service. The invoice detail and transparency for the service call and startup capacitor, second service item, is very poor in detail and transparency. The invoice clearly shows two separate services, RC360 AC for service contract and HVAC 2A for the startup capacitor during the same service call. No clue what tasks # FCC - Deferred and Realized are since not clearly described? No detail for parts, labor, or any other charge. A clear lack of transparency. Hence, below average invoice / billing experience. As the link below shows, a "Hard Start Kit for 3.5 to 4.5 Ton A/C Units"/start-up capacitor runs for 50 or no more than $100.00 for the part. Now guess what the total bill for the part was? Did you guess five times the part cost less than one hour to complete the install? There is no itemized cost for the $575.45 charge. What is the $400.00 to $425.00 cost for? [*** Link removed ***]

Paid for the “tune -up” service thinking they would actually do full system check and something/ anything to actually “tune up” the system since that’s what I scheduled. First of all scheduling was an absolute nightmare. Appointment was made for 12-4 and confirmed multiple times. I then started getting messages about an 8-10 appointment and when I called to question this, they said they had no idea why I got those messages it was clearly in their books 12-4. Day of the appointment, in the morning I received FOUR phone calls, THREE voicemails, and Text messages all wanting to know how soon could the technician come. I stopped what I was doing, totally changed my schedule and said yes fine, come whenever. Only to have them show up at 3:59 pm after all of that. The “tune-up” consisted of the technician checking the pressure outside and the voltage inside. That was it. Never took a single temperature reading, didn’t provide any services for the unit or tune up anything at all. He told me everything looked fine but if I wanted them to CLEAN the unit, they could do that for $3500 and if I wanted them to actually check/ run diagnostics on the system that would be a separate visit and another $100. Wasted an entire day waiting on these clowns for NOTHING.

A Red Cap salesman Ryan V. scheduled an appointment to quote a new AC unit. He was on time, I was late. Ryan gave me all of the options from repairs to a new AC. Ryan was very good to work with and answered all of my questions. I purchased a top of the line unit and also a home generator. Ryan scheduled the installation. Adam D. and a co-worker did the install. Both men were hard workers and did a good job. The AC was operating that afternoon. They cleaned up every where any work was done. The garage was cleaner when they left than it was when they arrived. All of the Red Cap personal I have dealt with have been great to work with! I am waiting on the HOA to give me permission to install the generator? I am a happy customer so far. Charlie J.

Red cap re plumbed my kitchen sink... Within 3 months it has popped off 3 times and my cabinets have flooded as a result. Been with this company for YEARS. They are not what they used to be... Suffice it to say, my cabinets are water logged and heavily damaged as a result of this.

We placed a service call to have our hot water tank looked at as the hot water smelled like sulphur. A phenomenal tech, Steve, came out the next day. He solved our problem by replacing the annode rod. Very professional and courteous. I highly recommend this company and will use them again for any future services.

We called Red Cap Plumbing and Air as when we ran the clothes washer, the toilet bubbled. First guy (11/18/22) ran a snake 20 feet and found nothing but said we needed our drain pipes replaced. Second guy (11/20/22) ran a K60 that shook the floor and walls. Caused a totall calcium blockage. Then we had no use of our drains at all. Third guy (11/23/22) said we need our drains cleaned of calcium and that our pipes were good. He ran a camera to check them. We were charged and paid each time. We were a week with out drains. 11/25/22 Red Cap used a Hydro scrub and a Bladed Chain instead of the Sand Paddle, explained, described and promised on 3 Red Cap documents so as not to damage our plastic ABS drains, we all saw black plastic come out of the pipe cut for the clean out..They did not do what was on the estimate of 11/23/22. Somehow had an invoice signed and dated 11/25/22, yet I did not sign anything on the 25th (the invoice is an obvious fraud they used siginatures from the 23rd to create it, it has the Estimate Details under Description of Work) and they did not do what was on the invoice (#137011716) They said "we finance with no interest" took my info and opened a credit card with Synchrony Bank on 11/23/22. They only did 4 of the 16 items that were promised & described and listed on the Estimate and the Invoice. We had paid them $400.00, they gave me a veteran's discount (I am a 76 year old disabled vet) and charged to the card, I did not possess, $7248.00 with out me signing anything after the work was done on the 25th to approve of the work or charge. They used the signed Estimate, of 2 days before they came to do the work, full of work not done, to take the money from the bank and later to say there was nothing to dispute. When they put in the clean out, they cut the pipe too short than cut another small slice of PVC and put it between the too short PVC and our ABS pipe and covered it with a fernco and charged almost $2,000.00 an hour. They were here for 4 hours, did 4 of 16, listed and promised, items and charged us $7648.00 + the veteran's discount. They will not return calls, answer emails or letters. I have written proof of Controler Michael Wetherell, in a letter to FDACS, saying the charge was for doing ALL the items and he listed them all out. I have written proof of Plumbing Manager, Brian Mc Guinness, saying in an email to a Pinellas Consumer Protection Investigator, when asked about the 12 items listed and not done, that "The invoice auto-populates these items based on the task code. All are if needed". Mr Mc Guinness told me that they do not have to do what they put on an Estimate or on an Invoice, he knows they only did 4 of the 16 items and knows they used a bladed chain meant for cast iron pipes in our plastic ABS pipes. Both these Red Cap Execs have lied to Gov. Investigators and their lies contradict each other and prove they both lied. I have sent this information to 4 Red Cap Execs and none of them will respond. I gave them 6 months to contact us and correct this, they refuse and refuse to respond to mediators so I am reporting therm. Don't just complaine, report them.

The plumber was great . The problem I had was I forgot to mention the advertising I had seen on television for $99.00 . When I called back I was told that my situation didn’t apply to their advertisement because the plumber had to go on top of my roof to go down my stack . I was very disappointed with the situation and how it was handled $300.00 I was charged for about 15 minutes of work!

DO NOT USE, I used them to install a water heater (worst mistake), they told me that they water heater that they were installing is professional grade and you can not buy it at a local Home Depot or Lowes. The total bill to install was just under $2,000. While they were doing the install, I looked up the exact model, it was available at Home Depot for $550, so, approximately $1,500 in labor? Additionally, they broke the pipe behind the wall and he was mad at me for having a house built in 2000 and tried to blame it on me. I had to call and complain to get them to send a sub-contractor out to repair the hole in the wall which took them 6 weeks to do. Their sub-contractor that fixed the wall damage was very nice and did a wonderful job. As for Red Cap, when I spoke to a manager about the price and they told me that they have to make money. In my opinion Red Cap not only has poor quality workmanship, but they also have some of the most arrogant, dismissive, unprofessional employees and management.

When they started my full home repipe, bathroom remodel, and more, on August 1 they were wonderful. The job was supposed to take 3 weeks maximum, I can't move into my new home until they finish their work, as I have no kitchen or bathrooms. So far they failed 3 rough in inspections, and everyone that I was dealing with 3 months ago (when my 3 week job started) is now gone. The guy that NOW leads the install department has no idea what is happening with my job and talks to me like a child, when he does respond to me at all. They are now subbing out my bathroom install to another company who will "try to expedite getting me on their schedule" after she sends them the estimate and they approve it. I won't be done by the end of the month and that will cost me yet ANOTHER month's rent because I can't get a Certificate of Occupancy until they are done. RUN AWAY from Red Cap, the company they were 3 months ago is not the company they are now.

RUN!!!!!! Unless you potentially want a bigger mess to clean. Pipes are leaking everywhere continuously Red Cap not only has poor quality workmanship, they have some of the most arrogant, dismissive, unprofessional employees and management. Their prices aren't even fair. So its not going to save you any money going through them, and may end up costing you more, like me.

This is a complaint about a plumbing overcharge. On May 11, 2022 I called Red Cap Plumbing, N Nebraska Ave, Tampa FL, (813) 963-3056 to fix a problem that the kitchen drain is backing up. John, a serviceman came out, looked at the faucet confirming the problem. He cited that fixing it will be $457. We (my wife and myself) reluctantly agreed. John climed up on the roof, and using his steel “snake”, he cleaned the drain in less than 10 minutes. The problem was some grease in the drain. He spent less than an hour, perhaps 45 minutes total time at our house. I wrote a breaf comment to Red Cap plumbing asking for a partial refund. No response. The national average of a drain cleaning is $250. Obviously our problem was a very simple one and $457.99 is an unacceptable overcharge. Also, quoting $457 without actually doing the job is unethical.

I called last night for a quote, I told them the hose was leaking from the water heater and they said it was $79 plus materials. They came today to fix it and they charged me over $600. My one star review is due to pricing, they are very responsive but how did we go from $79 to $600 and they don't give you a quote before doing the job, they just charge you at the end. Will not be using them again.

In January 2021, Red Cap Plumbing and Air installed a new A/C in our home. In the summer of 2021, our system shut off and we called for a tech. Tech told us that we needed a UV light and that biologics had grown in our system causing backups in the drain pipe. We thought a UV light had be installed with the new system, but according to the tech it had not. The following day we had the same issue and another tech came out and remediated the issue. We paid for this service. On December 1, 2021, a tech came to our house for a checkup. He recommended the installation (tried to upsale us) of a surge protector (this seemed weird) and the UV light due to biologic growth. Again, we were confused and noted this should have been installed already. After speaking with one of the installation techs (Manny) it turns out these were supposed to be installed and never was. Manny scheduled Techs for December 2, 2021 and they came out and supposedly installed both. We received no follow up from Red Cap. On December 10, 2021, we contacted Red Cap and asked for an explanation as to what happened. We were told a manager would respond the following week. After receiving no follow up call, we called back on December 14, 2021 and asked for someone to call. December 15, 2021, we were notified that a tech was coming to our house. We had not scheduled this and called and asked for an explanation. They were unable to give us one and I asked for a manager or owner to return my call and explain what happened. Dorian returned my call later that day and said he needed a tech to come out and verify or install the UV light. It is now December 19, 2021, and we have not yet received this follow up for a new AC system that was installed in January of 2021 and almost 1 year later we have no idea if it was installed correctly and the company has received full payment for and extra payments for issues that should have never occurred.

Coupon stated $99 per accessible clean out with free camera inspection. Once service tech arrived they stated $200 minimum because they had to go on the roof and that counts as a 2nd access. I feel the coupon is misleading and why start on the roof instead of the drain 1st? Did not have service performed. Called Chris’s plumbing instead with excellent results at half the cost. I highly recommend Chris’s plumber over Red cap!

Unaware by me, my 89 year old mother called them and they came out and gave her an estimate of $400, when they left she paid them $707 (including their generous $59 off coupon). They charged $224 just to clear out a drain trap on the first bathroom, then in the other bathroom they replaced her faucet with another one and they charged $524 for that faucet, in which I found out wholesale price on the new faucet was only $175. They said he was there for 5 hours but he came and left for 2 hours then came back. We plan to put a chargeback on the credit card, however, people beware of these guys, they took advantage of an elderly woman.
