He first argued with my wife about what color paint to use, insisting he use antique white even though she wanted pure white. He then claimed to prep, prime, and apply two coats of paint on our ceilings-all within a seven hour time frame. We have a 2100 sf house, and know it's impossible to paint that size house with one coat primer, and two coats paint within seven hours. The painting looked terrible. When we complained, he blamed it on the drywall/texture man, saying the texture was too thin. But even thinking that, he never told us beforehand that he felt the ceilings weren't ready for paint. He just went ahead and did the job, and then blamed someone else. We later had five independent painters look at the job and give their opinions. They each said the ceilings had not been prepped or primed. They said some rooms didn't even appear to have been painted at all, even though he claimed to paint them. Additionally, when there was a slight delay in getting a house key to him, rather than waiting 20 minutes for the key to arrive, he jimmied a window which broke the window lock. When I called to complain about the job, I asked him to come back and look at the work with us. He complained that he lived too far away to drive all the way back to look at it. He complained that his back was hurting because he had painted all day the day before. Yet a few days later, he walked into our home unannounced and uninvited, and insisted on discussing the paint job with my wife, who was busy with the moving company directing placement of our furniture and boxes. She explained that she was busy and it was not a good time to talk, yet he continued to follow her around the house as she was working with the movers. He kept blaming the problems on the drywall/retexturing man, the age of the house, and the brand and color of paint she had chosen. She finally asked him to leave the house. Response from Raulerson's Painting Service LLC
I am the owner of Raulerson's Painting Sevice, LLC,. I am responding to a recent report by this member, concerning work I performed on his residence. He hired me to paint the ceilings in his home, after he was referred to my company by two separate individuals whom I had done work for in the past. The home was a foreclosure and in need of much work. He was removing the popcorn texturing on the ceilings and replacing it with a thin layer of knockdown texturing. Originally, he had been given an estimate of $3000 dollars to remove and re-texture the ceilings. I assisted him in securing a lower rate through contacts and saved him almost $1000. Oh, he didn't mention that!!! Also, I SUGGESTED to his wife Antique White for the ceilings, since it was not as bright as pure white paint and usually not used on ceilings. I didn't know a suggestion was defined as an ARGUMENT. If I had argued with his wife, why would he have hire me??? Anyone, who has operated a SUCCESSFUL business for more that 25 years will eventually come across a dissatisfied customer. Someone, no matter what you do or how much you try to please them, it just isn't enough. The member is the ONE individual which I had the misfortune in my 25 years of business to work for. I suggested to them that I would do whatever they wanted to make them a satisfied customer. I offered on numerous occasions to re-paint their ceilings to their satisfaction with no additional charge. Since, I could not satisfy them, I REFUNDED their money with on questions asked. He is an individual who has issues with anyone that does work for him, just ask his Home Inspector, Drywall company and the cleaning company which he hired prior to moving into his home. If anyone is interested in hiring my company and has concerns to my professionalism and abilities, please feel free to contact me at 352-522-0684, for further details concerning this complaint. I have hundreds of extremely satisfied customers and I only work on referrals. This is the first time anyone has been unhappy with my quality of work. Joe Raulerson Raulerson's Painting Service LLC
