Our neighbor referred us to PACS and called them on my parents behalf to fix the air conditioning which was running warm. The technician arrived promptly at their ome and diagnosed the problem as the compressor. He said they needed a new compressor and the freon was running low. He then stated to me it would cost around 1400 for a new compressoir so it would be best to replace the entire unit. I was on the telephone with the technician and asked if anything else could be done to keep it running cool. He said he added freon and that most likely there was a leak in the coil which was also on the receipt. He said there was nothing more he could do and it would Be best to get a new air condition unit and he could sell us us one for 2600. I told him I was going to get another estimate and asked him for the total charges. He told me 65 for the service call. The air conditioner began running warm two hours after he left. The next day when I went to my parents house I saw the receipt with the total price of $213 not $65. And the technician stated on the receipt he changed the run cap for $148. I called the company to ask why the difference in price that I was quoted on the telephone. . I left a message and the next day the owner called me. I asked him to explain the difference in price and he quickly became defensive and said I was berating him. We went back and forth and he ultimately defended his technician and his diagnosis. The next day ACR Experts came to my parents home and examined the air conditioner. They found the run cap needed to be replaced - the same run cap PACS replaced for $148. ACR replaced the cap for $55 and the air conditioner has been running great ever since. I will not use PACS air conditioning again. They are dishonest and have terrible customer service when you ask questions.
