Orlando's Heating & AC

"Bad workmanship and no warranty" pretty much says it all. DO NOT USE ORLANDO's HEATING & A/C. His prices may be lower, but it will cost you more in the long run to fix his bad workmanship. Orlando Moreda was recommended by a friend who has used him in the past. Orlando's quote for replacing my A/C system was extremely reasonable compared to other quotes I received from some of the big-name companies. Orlando showed up as promised to look at my system and give me a quote. He was licensed and bonded, so I decided to go with him. He installed the new system in October 2012 and all seemed well. I asked him about a warranty on workmanship and his response was "If anything goes wrong, just give me a call and I will come out and fix it". He did not give me a written warranty. In May 2013, I went up in the attic to install a bathroom fan. As I crawled by the air handler, I could feel cold air blowing out. When I inspected it, I saw that the tape he used to connect the plenum to the air handler unit had become unstuck and cold air was escaping into the hot attic.The next day (a Tuesday, I think) I called Orlando and spoke to him about the leak. He said to call him back on Sunday afternoon so we can schedule a time for him to come out and look at the problem. I called him on Sunday afternoon as instructed, and we agreed to meet at my house on Monday at 4:00pm. He told me to call him when I got home and he will come over. I left work early that day so I can meet him. I called him when I got home and I got his voicemail. I left him a message saying that I was at the house. He never showed up, and he didn't call me. I left him a message on Wednesday, and another message on Friday. He never returned any of my calls. A full week went by and he never called me back. I then called and left him another message saying that what he's doing is not cool. I said that's it's not fair that I now have to pay another company to come out and fix his poor workmanship. I also said that if he didn't call me back that I would submit a report on Angie's List. I thought that would prompt him to call me back, but he never did. Last weekend my A/C started blowing warm air into the house. Looks like the leak got worse and the system was now sucking in hot air from the attic. I called my friend who had recommended Orlando and asked if he could call Orlando and let him know that I was still waiting for him to respond to my numerous calls. My friend said he spoke to Orlando and told him my A/C was blowing hot air. Orlando told my friend he would call me the next day. I waited almost 2 weeks and Orlando never called me. I tried calling him, and he actually connected the call and then immediately hung up. Frustrated and with a hot house, I ended up going to the hardware and buying some tape and mastic, then going into the 100-degree attic and fixing it myself. I wasn't about to call out another company and pay a lot of money after I just had a brand new system put in. Bottom line is...Orlando is a dishonest crook and he does not stand by his work. He does poor, shoddy work and then leaves the customer stranded when there are problems.
