MIDFLORIDA Credit Union

MIDFLORIDA began in 1954 as Polk County Teachers Credit Union.  MIDFLORIDA has grown to 38 branches, nearly 700 employees and assets exceeding $1.8 billion. Presently, we are servicing nearly 200,000 members in the Central Florida area with products and services that rival any local bank, while maintaining the credit union philosophy of excellent personal attention.They have good hours of operation and their  Drive-Thru Hours 7:00 am ? 7:00 pm (M-Fri) 8:30 am ? 1:00 pm (Sat). They also have shared branching which is a great. One can be anywhere and use other credit unions that participate in shared branching. to my understanding the majority of the Credit unions do have shared branching. Mo natter if you are in Florida or California you have a branch near you. 

Remember the old days, before banks talked, when you had to wait a week for funds to be deposited to your account?  Welcome to MidFlorida.  Even though it is the year 2013, where Best Buy can make sure there are sufficient funds in an account before they accept a check, MidFlorida still puts a ridiculous hold on checks deposited to their bank in many circumstances.
So far, we have stumbled upon the following circumstances where a hold will be placed on deposits to our account:
1) If the balance of our account is less than the sum of the check, we will have to wait a week for that deposit.
2) If we use an ATM for a deposit, we will have to wait a week for that deposit.
This was not the case at Bank of America.  We were always able to access our funds on the same business day.  In this modern-technology age, this inconvenience is completely unacceptable. 
Additionally, to open the account, we had to open an account that we didn't want (personal savings) just to be a member of the bank.  We already have a Money Market account with Ally, so we have no need for this account.
Lastly, the staff is not very helpful.  They never seem to be in a good mood and just recite rules.  They do not, themselves, seem to have any flexibility to help customers.
My wife and I have excellent credit scores, have never bounced a check, etc... So, this is just completely unacceptable.  We had originally anticipated that we would move all of our accounts to this bank.  However, at this point, we will most likely cancel this account and move yet again.
