I was in over my head trying to do it on my own so I found Linda on Angie's List and asked her to help. The report she gave was so much more than I could have asked for! She was able to trace my ancestors all the way back to the 1600s, and on top of that found pictures of some of my ancestors from the 1800s! I'm absolutely in awe of the incredible work Linda did and I'm so grateful to her for all her help. She was very responsive throughout the process to any questions I had and kept me updated throughout on her progress. Linda is an absolutely lovely person to work with and I highly recommend her services!

 + -1 moreLinda never ceases to amaze me. I have had her do multiple reports for me, with the most recent one always managing to seem more in depth, thorough and comprehensive than the former. Over the years I have worked on this particularly complicated family line, never managing to figure it out. But as usual, Linda has come through with very exciting and impressive details. Reading her report gives me such warm and fuzzy nostalgia feelings, reading about those now deceased relatives that I knew, but also, with Linda’s expertise, seeming to get to know those I was never able to meet, longing to know more about their lives and how, through them, I came to be. Through Linda’s narrative and stories about my ancestors, I have indeed gotten to know them, and it is wonderful. Thanks again Linda ! ! !

I actually put took it to a book binder and had it made into a book and designed a cover for it just to put a bit of my own imprint on it. Thanks so much to Linda for the work. It is amazing to see the thought process and development of the history. In fact, I think the most interesting parts are where Linda speculated on certain persons being part of my wife's ancestry but couldn't find definite corroboration. Really interesting. Linda has a passion and talent for this work. Thank you so much! Others in her family are super interested in this history and we will share it (I had 10 copies of the book made). This will be an heirloom for the family.

 + -1 moreLinda was very prompt to respond to my initial email. She offered to do a brief search, representing less than her standard time. She offered me a rate commensurate to the time she was going to put in, and even offered to fit the search in for the upcoming week! Four days after initially contacting Linda, I received a detailed report via email. Although her brief search wasn't able to produce the information I was seeking, I remain very impressed with Linda's prompt responses to emails, her willingness to offer me a non-standard "mini search", and the valuable suggestions she made in her report. I fully intend to hire Linda for her more lengthy standard search, as I have a hunch that with more information provided to her, and more time allotted to the search process, that her investigative nature, combined with her demonstrated caring character, will more likely uncover the information I've been looking for!

 + -1 moreWith only a birth certificate (from 1939!) listing my father's birth mother's name, place of residence, and place of birth, Linda eagerly took on the challenge. We ended up with a 103-page genealogy report detailing my father's birth mother's lineage. She was even able to find a few photos of his biological mother! Linda identified several living descendants and offered suggestions on ways to contact them that would respect the delicate nature of our relationship with them given the likelihood that they may not know anything about my father's birth and adoption. It was obvious that Linda has a true passion for her work. She went above and and beyond on this project, and I get the impression that is always her style! Thank you Linda!
Description of Work: My nearly 80 year-old father, who was adopted at birth, decided recently he would like to know what there is to know about his birth parents and potential biological relatives. My sisters and I spearheaded the effort on his behalf.

This is the third time I have had Linda do research for me (and I do have more) and yet again, she has come through with information that I have personally been seeking for years, but could never find. She is always promptly responsive to my emails, explains everything each step of the way, is very professional . . . . . . and is funny and delightful too. How she keeps all the dates and all the different spellings of a surname straight in her head is phenomenal. My head spins at the thought. Yet she does it.  + -1 moreThe report Linda emailed me was fascinating. Over hundred pages of information that I never really knew about before. I asked Linda to specifically look into the origins of my surname and she didn’t disappoint. She begins the report with a personal letter to the recipient and then explains the research process. From there, it’s just a treasure hold of information on the origins of my surname. Linda provided spelling variations of my surname to show the complexity of finding the origins. It was like reading a short book with lots of twist and turns. Linda had her hands full, but she did an outstanding job with the research, providing tons of information on family members on my Father’s side. Long story short, I discovered that my surname comes from Bratislava, Hungry or as it was originally known as Pressburg, Hungary. Overall, Let Linda Locate is an outstanding service if you ever what to know anything about your family tree. I am so happy with Linda’s work. I plan in the future to work with Linda again because I still would like to look into my mother’s side of the family. Linda was so wonderful to work and talk with that there is no doubt that I will be a customer of hers again.
Description of Work: I’ve been curious about my family origins for a while now, so I decided to look into finding a Genealogist. Let Linda Locate seemed to be the obvious choice after reading all the positive reviews on Angie’s List. I contacted her through email asking her if she could look into the origins of my surname. Linda quickly responded back to me, providing me detailed information on her services. For Genealogy, she begins with a two step process which requires you to provide her with any documentation you have on your family as well as any oral history like family stories. With that, she requires a payment of $600.00 which provides the initial ten hours of research. Linda is very good with budgeting her time and will keep you informed on the hours she is putting in. For my case, she even invested extra time for me, free of charge, due to the complexity of my surname. After the ten paid hours were up, Linda informed me on where she was with her research. Even with the extra time, she had hit a wall with where my surname originates from, but she had some leads that she was more than willing to look into. She gave me the choice to either collect what she already had or continue with her research. I asked her how much longer she would need to give me a definite answer on my origins and she told me that she would need no more than five more hours. From the beginning, I thought more time might be needed and Linda at the start informed me that Genealogy research can normally run between 15 to 60 hours depending on the case. This would sum up the total paid hours to 15, pretty normal, so I decided to have Linda continue. The additional five hours came to $300.00, which put the complete cost to $900.00 by the time Linda concluded her research. At the end, Linda emailed me a fantastic report on my surname that consisted of over a hundred pages, detailing where my Father’s side of the family came from.

It was a delicate situation and I asked her what the cost would be for her services. Linda was so helpful and honest! She returned my email within 2 hours. She said she could try to research the information I needed, but first gave me a cheaper suggestion and it worked! Linda could have just taken on my case and charged me but instead she was thoughtful and considerate of my situation. Her suggestion was the cost of two postage stamps. Although I paid no money to Linda her recommendation allowed to forward important information on. I would definitely use her services in the future and will recommend her to my friends. Thank you Linda, your helpful nature and honesty is so refreshing!

 + -1 moreGads, words almost escape me now that it time to write this review. I am totally dazed and completely blown away by what Linda, of Let Linda Locate, has done. Let me also preface my praise of her work by saying that I have toiled off and on for a long long time over this genealogy project and have gotten absolutely nowhere because of the dead ends that even Linda herself said were there. But no, did she let dead ends stop her on this investigative undertaking? Not no, but heck no. She was able to unearth some very weird stuff in our family tree that no one has had a clue about, at least no one still living. And for those who get really excited about the prospect of a glimpse back in time like this, then Linda, of Let Linda Locate, is definitely your girl. She provided maps, actual photocopies of the significant census records, probate court records, as well as other genealogical gems gleaned from various research websites and other research tools. Moreover, the best part was the fascinating narrative, including tips on possible long lost relatives out there who might be able to provide further personal family information. She was/is very professional, prompt in all her correspondence, produces obviously very high quality work, and was just an overall pleasure with which to work. And for the record, she clearly does not charge enough.
